My day at the track

SUCKS. I cannot get my car to do anything after 95mph, It just keeps cutting out. I ran 2 more 14.0's at 98 cause this f****n car wants to play games with me. All I have to do is shut the car off and turn it back on again and its fine ( hondata hurry! ). Only good news is I got my 60' time down to a 2.05 instead of that shitty 2.4 . I think I can run about a 1.9 60' if I launch at 5500 rpm. Can some of you post your 1/4 mile times so I can compare mine to yours?

just a thought.. complete shot in the dark here... it wouldn't be that you have a speed limiter on it would it?

If you drove it down the track you would think it does, but it will pull over 150 but not from a standstill. It seems my car does not like to accelerate from a dead stop

How's your air/fuel ratio....this could be a problem if your maybe getting to much air and not enough fuel so it cuts off on ya since your WOT at the track.

I wouldnt say that is a dumb question, he does not know my car so that is why he asked. The Air/Fuel is a mystery in my car, no idea, it will do it if i am running 7 lb or 14 lb. keep in mind i am only running a SAFC. I just put a fuel pressure gague on my fuel rail yesterday and it said I am running 55 psi. I do not have the Pressure Riser on the car because I was told that it will be a conflict with the SAFC and will not work. I was thinking that I should put the riser on and crank the pressure up to about 65 psi. I read on the manual that stock psi for a GSR is 55 and add 1 psi for every lb of boost that is going into the car. Anybody think 65 psi is too high?

how about you get your car dynotuned, so you won't have to guess on how to modify your air/fuel ratio.

sounds good to me too lol

14.9@92mph here.. That sucks you're only running a second faster than me, even though it's your cutoff's fault.

Great idea, dynotuning....why didnt I think of that? :disappoin When are we going?

You run the stock honda map? I would hope not because boosting 14psi on it is not the smartest thing to do. It could also cause your ECU to run in "limp" mode.

:naughty: When you save enough money to get it dynotuned then i'll hold your hand and we can go to get your car tuned together... :lol2: Don't get to happy i was just playing about holding hands.. :nono:

I am thinking the same exact thing.
YellowITR479, for a comparison my best time as of last year is a 14.4 @97.4 mph with a 2.555 60' time. How did you get your 60' down to 2.0? I can't seem to get mine any lower than 2.4x.

I used to pull a 2.15 in my stock R with the potenzas @ 22lb. I will admit that the 2.0 60' time I got in my car recently I really abused the clutch. My car is not much of a tire spinner below 7000 rpm, as it doesnt reach full boost until about 5200 rpm which is kind of a good thing on the street because I really hate buying tires. I was concerned in the past about why the car doesnt reach full boost until 5200 rpm but I figure it is from the LS tranny and the guy I bought the turbo from said that it has a modified compressor wheel which is a little too big for my car. MAXSPEEDHONDA is that the sensor that goes on the air inlet pipe to the turbo?, because if it is then there is no sensor there. I also noticed a couple of plugs lying around my motor that are not plugged in, is this because I am running an OBD-1 motor in a OBD-2 car, I believe I am still running the OBD-2 Computer. I am in the process of ordering an Hondata S200 with an P28 Ecu & Harness. I am hoping this will forever end my cars problems and bring out its true power.

Oh, any by "limp mode" do you mean not move at all mode?

heh.. it means your car goes into a safe mode, like Windows after something fucks up. I'm not 100% sure what the engine does, but I think it throws in tons of extra fuel and changes the timing to make sure it runs. :dunno:
Edit: Researched it a bit and it does add more fuel to the engine, to avoid detonation.

I MAP sensor should be located close to the throttle body. Just look for a small black sensor that has a three wire harness and a vacumm line coming off it leading to either the TB or IM. Ricochet it right, when the ECU enters "limp mode" it dump fuel and some computers I believe also retard timing. It will make that car bog badly. The stock honda map sensor can only read 11psi. So when you get your s200b, make sure you pick up a GM 3 bar Map. Also I don't know if you could be running an ODB2 ECU on a OBD1 motor without some kind of wiring conversion. But I don't know for sure, never had an OBD2 car.

Yea, my car wont do that limp shit if it is under 11psi, guess i am running the stock map. How much does the upgraded sensor cost?

For the sensor and the harness, they usually go for around $150. Anyplace that you can get the hondata from will usually stock them. Look at some parts trader forums, I picked one up from there for $55 shipped.
