Whats with the spyware?

I'm wondering whats going on here. I've found that i've been getting some spyware/adware on my computer lately, while it was "only" a home page redirect, adding a few favorites, rearranging my old ones and popping up search boxes all the time I am still quite angry. After using coolwebshredder and hijack this to delete the adware several times, I have discovered that it only comes up after I have visited automotiveforums.com. Why are you running this on your server, all it does is frustrate people.

they aren't, I'm more than willing to bet. Try running spybot search and destroy and adaware, and maybe consider a more secure browser than IE.

and the guy above will win the bet too :)

There is ABSOLUTELY no way that you are getting spyware from visiting AF. We are not like that.

my guess is that you just haven't fully removed it. i had it on my computer, and after using 5 anti-spyware programs (and i actually do know my way around a computer) it just kept coming back. takes a ton of work to fully get rid of them, more than just adaware and such.

phew :) thought I might lose a bet there for a second ;)

no admin/s in their right mind would put spyware on their site, and even if they did, if you used a properly secure browser they can't just put it on your machine.

When you use the Spybot Search and Destroy, make sure you update it and once done scanning and removing spywares, make sure you select Immunize.

You might want to use another browser. I'm using Mozilla Firefox 0.8
