If you want to stay NA, go with the basic 3 everyone starts with: a good intake (AEM, Injen), header (Comptech) and exhaust(Greddy Evo II, Magnaflow, Borla). Then focus on suspension (Coilovers or springs, stbs etc.) and then any aesthetic crap...

If I may add, for gains, a race header is where the gains are at and are made by Comptech, DC Sports, Jackson Racing and TODA.

Are race headers legal in Canada? They don't fly in the U.S., unfortunately...

Not legal, but there aren't any inspections so it doesn't really matter that much. Many people still run race headers though:D gains of over 20 whp sometimes. I heard the TODA gets 28.

Hmmm...national health coverage and the opportunity to run race headers...damn U.S....

National health coverage? Huh? I didn't think the US had such a thing. Where do I sign up?
I'm sure there are alot of things that people do to their autos without it being legal. Like driving around with concealed Nitrous kits in their trunks. It's just a matter of whether you get caught or not. I've heard of someone getting pulled over with one of those in their cars by a cop and was given a warning to take it out. Don't know what happened, but I'm sure he's still got it in there.
So if you're brave enough, I'm sure you can do that kind of stuff in Canada too!

No, I was talking about Canada. I'd like that here, too...Damn cheap country (U.S.)...
Anyway, sure, you can install what you want on your car- but if you can't pass inspection or get pulled over by the cops every two seconds, it's not gonna do you much good...

Just one thing to keep in mind - the 200hp is NOT at the wheels which is what really matters. You actually only get about 170hp at the wheels which could be bumped up with MORE POWER. :iceslolan

Whoops! Thought you were from Canada. I can't seem to keep it straight. The U.S. isn't bad in terms of health coverage - only that you need a job to have it or pay through the nose!
True, but if your tanks are hidden and there's no way for them to tell, they can't search the car unless they have a reason to do so. Just don't use them to blow by the cop, and you should be fine! Oh, and make sure not to use them when you go to emissions either! :grinno:

Correct me if I am wrong but don't they make Cams for the RSX Type S? I think those with a opened up exahust system would yield you some very nice gains. However it's a part isn't as good as a the sum of the whole also. (did that come out right)
crazy_canuck
05-28-2004, 04:26 PM
Yeah, I think there are RSX cams. And do you mean to say the sum of the parts is or isn't equal to the whole?
For the RSX the best set-up would most likely be:
-Injen CAI
-DC Sports Racing Header
-Exhaust (personal preference, although I like the Fujitsubo, HKS and Borla)
-Revo or B&M Short Shifter
-Energy Suspension Motor Mounts
-Type R Rear Sway (22mm)
-Springs
-New Tires
That'll make it feel like a brand new car, huge improvments. If I had the dough, that's they way i'd go!

I'm with you...but I'd sub in a Comptech header and some good adjustable coilovers for the springs. If money was no object, naturally...

Yeah, coilovers would be best....Comptech shorty header or race?

yeah that... also dont forget to take the back seat off and the spare tire,, and replace the hood for a carbon fiber one, dats gonna make ur car lighter than it is , so u can get better 1/4 mile times :smokin:

First of all, a CF hood isn't going to produce large amounts of weight to be removed its mainly for looks. And the back seat is less than 20 pounds, but the pass. seat is like 75. I'd remove the passenger seat. Lexan windows would take off a good chunk of weight.
And if i'm not mistaken the Jackson Racing is the only one that'll pass, but it gives the least gains.

Yeah, 4-10 pounds for the RSX CF hoods however, I believe the stock hood is only 35 pounds or something (its aluminum).
