'87 Covette Auto to Manual

I know that C5's and C6's have thet transmission located in the rear, but what about C4's. I'm planning on putting a T-56 in my Cobra, so I'd have a free T-3650 to mess with. I'd also get a Centerforce dual-friction clutchfor the Cobra, so another free part. I know that I'd need an adapter plate to mate with the engine. I'd just like to know if it's possible for not too much money.

One problem is the C-4 doesn't have a crossmember. The differential is connected to a torque arm, which is bolted to the back of the trans. All the lifting forces of the drive line are transferred up to the motor mounts. That's why you never see any traction control devices for Vettes.
(unlike Camaros) Since the t.arm doesn't have a pivot on the back of the tranny, this supports the engine/trans and keeps it all from falling down. For the Ford tranny to work, the torque arm would have to be mounted to the back of the tail housing. Any good fabricator that can weld aluminum would be able to piece it together and make it work.
One good thing is that the 3650 is lighter than the 56. Mixing Ford and Chevy parts is never an easy task. Does the later T-3650 still use a cable? The chevy is Hydraulic. The pilot bearings have different internal and external specs. I think the 3650 will fit an older Chevy bell housing, but the bolt pattern is different. You could probably use a Ford clutch disk in the Chevy pressure plate.
I mated a Muncie to the back of a BMW V-12. I mixed-n-matched parts to make it work. A collar had to be machined to fit around a Chevy pilot bearing to make it fit the Bimmer crank. An odd combo, but it does work.
If you take the problems of all the differences and solve them one at a time, it can be done.

The Cobra, because the Vette is a piece of s%!&. Currently it won't start, the interior is coming apart, and it can't pass emissions easily. But it does look great.
It is hydraulic.

Now I won't be having to worry about all that, I just got a 12 point street racing ticket. It was kind of bogus so I'm going to fight it, or at least bargain it down to something else.

They're getting pretty strict here on street racing. Too many wackos have taken out civilians a few too many times and the cops are fed up. Get busted for racing, the peeps go to the slammer and the cars go to impound.
Most Mustang guys that I know talk a big game and think their car is the world's greatest. The dude that owns a (real) Cobra is cool as $hit and doesn't have the attitude. I never cared much for Fords, but having a Cobra would be sweet. There are very few people that own a Mustang and a Vette.
So, what offenses are on a 12pointer?

What they officially called it was "Contest of Speed". There were three cops sitting in a 7-11 parking lot out of their cars when my friend and I left the light right next to the 7-11. We were on our way home after a night of crusing and we just left the light together. He might of done a burnout, but I know that I did not. We got up to about 60-65(speed limit is 55) and then turned on the road that goes to our houses. We turned again to pull over and talk when the three cops flipped on their lights. They made my friend sit in a patrol car for an hour and a half untill his parents came, they just let me drive home. This would be one where they take your liscence away for a year and insurance goes through the roof, if you can get any. I'm going to go talk to the DA and see if he'll reduce the charge. Just to put it in perspective, I only have 4 points on my liscence, at 5 they take it away.
