96 Accord LX wiper problem

Well, this is an extremely annoying issue. Whenever it rains, or there is moisture in the air, it's like my wipers get over excited. They accelerate on the way back and slam into the hood making a very audible noise. When it's dry out they work fine and stop at the right spot.

Any ideas?

Searching forums for the same problem... My wipers do the same thing, when it rains and i start driving they slam on both the bottom side and my left one slams on the side. I was thinking maybe the bolt that holds the wipers on might be slipping but im not sure.

It happened on my 97 accord ex. I had to remove the wiper arms and plastic cover at the base of the windshield. There is 2 rods that connect the wiper motor to the passenger side wiper. The plastic end wore out on one of the rods and become loose. Push down on the rods to remove. I picked up a new one at Honda for $20. The rods are no. 11 & 12.
