dont think you have to worry about it cracking.

well, so long as the rotating assembly is proporly balanced and you set it all up right, i dont think you have much at all to worry about, unless you stuff it with a 600 shot of nitrous or soemthing. but naturaly asperated, i wouldnt worry at all about putting the power to that block. especialy if its only 30 over. but you said 430cid, so is that 40 or 60 over? cuz a 30 over is only a 406cid, so i guess your main concern would be if the bores are really hogged out you might crack the block between the bores. is that what you were askin?

if so, i would reccomend using the longest rods and pistons with short compression heights, this will limit cylender wall loading and limit the chance of cracking the block between cylenders. as far as maximum hp to shoot for before any damage, cant tell ya. its gonna be hit or miss.

you cant bore a 400sbc more then 60 over. Even with that you are only looking at having 412ci. However, they do make stroker kits for the 400s up to 427 I believe. That is as big as they get in the Lingenfelter book anyways.

I love the math some people come up with. It's so funny. .030 deffinately is 406 cid. Have one right now. Ballanced and full roller. Should be around 500 horse. Higher if I would have bumped up the compression but who wants to pay for racing gas for the street.

well dont feel like number crunchin here, but im pretty sure you can go pretty big on these. im almost positive they use 400 blocks for the 454cid small blocks. but i know ive seen the 400 punched out to 434cid. the 427 is the stock 4.125in bore with a 4in stroke. so i think the 30 over is the 434cid. im sure that with a little machine work you could probly fit a longer stroke in there yadda yadda, so 427 is the beginning of the game.
