so here is the story:
i have been looking for a beginners bike for the past 7-8 months. everything i have been interested in(ninj 500/250,seca,bandit, old cbr, sv650, or honda hawk) i could not find around here for sale.all i could find where high powered gixxers and other bullet bikes. just as i was about to give up hope on finding a bike, i went to prom and there was this kid i knew who had an sv650 that i have wanted to have forever. i never told him that i liked his bike i rarely even talked to him about it. but out of the blue he asked me if i wanted to buy it. i asked him how much and he told me 3000. so i went online checked out the blue book values and they were between like 2400 and 3500. my dad and i went to look at it and he test rode the bike and thought it was awesome for me. he said i would have plenty of fun with how the power was through the rpm range. so i talked to the kid and we worked out that i would pay 500 a month until it was payed off and he will turn it over to me next week when he gets a new tire on it because the tire on it right now is on its last layer. the only thing that is wrong with the bike is it has a small scratch where your crotch meets the gas tank, and a small pinhole on the left rear part of the tail and that is it. i also went to the zuki shop and bought a helmet and got info on the msf courses in town. i am going to probably take the course in two weeks when i get my new license. i was also going to buy a jacket but suprisingly the only jackets they had where the big old harley leather jackets, and mX jackets so i will probably order one of those online (anyone new anygood sites to get those and gloves?) also does anyone have a rough estimate how much insurance will cost with this thing. i will probably call with in the next few days before i get it to find out, but if any of you know please tell me.
sorry for the long post as most of you can probably understand i and the girlfriend are very excited about this bike. any tips or suggestions please post them :iceslolan

CONGRATS!!! :D You'll LOVE it!
I know that I like http://www.ironpony.com for bike gear. They actually have a real shop in Ohio, so you might be able to physically check it out if you are close enough. Otherwise, many of my friends use http://www.newenough.com to pick up gear.
