yea those chips are garbage, and if you get the airfilter kit off ebay and it doesnt have the hookup, its gonna throw the maf code and run funny, i would go with the k&n with the maf senser, its worth the extra cash

K&N definitely worth the bucks. Classic case of you get what you pay for. K&N FIPK gave me a noticable boost in power at the wheels and 2-3 mpg increase. And it incorporates the stock MAF sensor. If where you are tests for emissions, eliminating the MAF sensor could cause problems that are not worth the hassle. Got mine new on Ebay for about $60.00 less than retail.
Good luck.

Go to the K&N site and look up what you need for your application. The drop-in filter is better than stock but the real deal is the FIPK which replaces the entire air intake up to the throttle body. As far as taking the screen out of the MAF, I mounted the MAF in a vise and gently tapped it out of its housing. BE VERY CAREFUL! Don't touch the fine wires in front of the screen! If you do, your MAF might not work correctly and send false info to the computer. Not good.
Don't be intimidated, it's not nearly as hard as it sounds.
Good luck.

I removed the screen a few years ago. Basically just tear it out. From my experience and what I've read it really doesn't do anything to help i the way of hp. Just kind of a waste of time and if I could go back I wouldn't have removed it in the first place.
