Air Temp Sensor and Chrome Air Cleaner

Hello guys,

Does anyone know if the sensor (I think air temp) on the left inside of my big black plastic air cleaner (1991 305) is supposed to have the wire just hanging out into space? Is it supposed to be attached to one of those metal prongs?

Tomorrow I'm replacing that nasty black thing with a chrome one so I'll have to relocate the sensor and I just wanted to know if it was supposed to look like that. I hate that black thing. Bet it will freak people out when they look under the hood too! :smokin:
