Hey I was wondering who you think would win in a 1/4 mile race. A manual 2004 PT Cruiser GT HO or a automatic 2004 RX-8. Keep in mind the Cruiser has roughly 220 hp and 245 lbs of torque. The RX-8 has 193 hp and 165 lbs of torque I think. The RX-8 is also about 200-300 lbs lighter than the Cruiser.

Those turbo PT Cruisers are basically SRT4s for old folks! Same engine and turbo! I bet it would give an Auto RX8 a run...but then again who buys the auto RX8?!?!?

That would be my father under my protest. That car shouldnt even be offered with an automatic of course in my opinion neither should most cars.

who cares if it is offered in auto or not? If you dont want it.. look the other way. What difference does it make... I would rather see an inexperienced gurl drive an auto RX8, than to hear second gear grind away to nothing because she "doesnt know what that other pedal is for"...

here are some comparison times:

looks like the PT has a slight edge, MPH wise....

The PT has a much better aftermarket (and dealer) support. However, the RX will be a better looking, better handling vehicle.

Sorry my vote goes to the PT. If he has so much as a MBC in there or knows how to pre-spool the turbo while at the line then your car is toast.
Nice thing with manuals is that you can load the engine without moving the car at the line. Same can be done in an automatice but generaly causes more costly repairs at the end.
This tends to give one hell of a launch :D

Im building up an RX8 for a customer who decided he hates almost everything about the car after buying it. And unfortunatly i agree. But its a fun project so far. I get to do mean things to this car :D
No more saturn rear dors for this car, no more tiburon fenders, no more lexus tails :D It will be a great car when its finished.

unfortunately, the PT would win the 1/4 mile. the RX-8 would give it a run for its money, but power output of the PT would send it flying into first even though the RX-8 has a better power/weight ratio.

Pt Will Win Because The Auto Trans On Rx8 Suck Balls, Drive One And You Will Say What The Fuck!!!! Just Get A V8

You got to battle with that PT's torque steer before you race those 2.

By the way, who cares about straight road acceleration of a RX-8? That's not where it shines...
