Transmission Clunking Problem

When I am coming to a stop, the car seems to clunk or stutter. It feels like the automatic transmission is shifting down and makes this awful noise. It sounds like the transimission and is goming from underneath the floor panels. The dealer reprogrammed and that didn't solve the program. Does anyone else have this problem with their 325I and has it been fixed?

i have a 00 323 i have a similar problem it clunks when i slow down to a stop my dealership they are a bunch of bafoons they don't know what it is i have read it may be some output flanges not exactly sure anyway i still have the noise it sucks but i dont want to replace my bushings in my rear suspension trailing arm as the dealer said it might be because they are guessing they are not sure. :banghead:

Isn't it the most irritating problem?..i am literally embarassed to have other people in the car when it happens...my Honda's and Acura's never gave me as much trouble as this car has..its only 1 yr old...had I known about the reliabily issues with BMW, I would have stuck with a Japanese made car...

its a gm trans problem. the output shaft has too much endplay. unfortunately there is not a whole lot you can do about it, it seems they all have too much play even the reman transmissions and since its likely not to be a reliability problem there is not much getting done about them.

I had the same problem with my 88 325i. It turned out to be transmission mounts were worn out and that caused the drive shaft bolts to loosen, causing the cluuunking sound whenever I engaged or shifted.
