Looks like it might be a little more work to install an ARB on a new X. You gotta remove all that extra stuff. The setup of the hood is also a good argument not to get a regular "Brush Guard." After what happened to Bluztraveler on his '01 I wouldnt want any impact on that fancy new nose the '02 sports.

Just an FYI I spoke with ARB two weeks ago regarding them making a bumper specifically for the 2002 Xterra and new Frontier front ends and they said they have no plans to make a new bumper. They have test fitted a bumper on a 2002 X and were satisfied with the results although there will be a slightly larger gap between the bumper and body which they were not concerned with.

Well I do sell and install ARB's but according to ARB it is still a direct bolt on with no welding required. I guess until the first 2002 X owner decides to install one no one will know if anything else is involoved.

since most of the 02 X people are prissy, it'll be hard getting them to remove that fashionable silver painted plastic skidplate thingie. :D

Heh, heh. I thought it was a pillow to soften the impacts from Nissan lowering the front bumper for 2002. ;)

When did this happen ?
Same frame, same underlying bumper structure as previous years.

When I was at GoX the Nissan guys said that the bumper was lower. Not the underlying structure, but the plastic. You did notice they removed the "pillow" from the 2002 at Pakipsie right?

I wonder if the new headlights will line up nicely with the ARB too (the actual beam). It would be cool to see an '02 with one on. Platnum - come to Naches with PNWX - we'll give you an excuse to put one on. We helped Scott.com and Bluztraveller (he took it a little too far though) :frog:

Excuse the driveway I am still searching for some mud around Sarnia. But since it is not supposed to be a shot of my X I assumed it would be OK.

Just a area to watch for. Because the ARB is mounted to your frame it will vibrate at a different rate than your truck body. If there isn't much space where you cut the plastic you will probably have some impacts between the two parts. It might not be a big problem, but keep an eye on how much the ARB moves the plastic front and possible rubbing of painted sections agains the vibrating plastic.
You'll noticed this most on the washboard roads and offroading.
