interested now in finding a 350 w/ 6 speed. i'm wondering the ball park i should be looking at for the engine & tranny package. i know there's a lot of labor involved. about how many hours do u think it would be - pull the old engine & transmission, drop in the new...?? thanks

if its an LT1 you're puttin in you also gotta worrk about the reverse cooling system, the new guages, and i would invest in a new rear end.. many people have told me, and i'll agree that it may be better to just buy a Z28

you're looking in the 3K range, depending on your sources, abilities, and what exactly you want. i would say 2 to 4k...

There is a WORLD of difference between the RS and the Z28, beside the engine and tranny. If you have y87, you have the z28 rear axle, if not, you may want it. Driveshaft, springs etc. also to think about.

yeah 2 to 4K is just on engine and transmission. if you buy everything new than it will be around 4, if not than maybe you can get down to the 2K end. once you start getting into all the little parts that you will need to actually fit the engine and trans into the car, not to mention all the stuff that you will need to replace cause it wont work or should be used with the V8, you are talkin bucks. i mean in the 10K range...

and suspension too. it would cost you about 3k
or more to do it right. i'd take the camaro
and 3k and trade it in on a good z28.
cause your looking at swaping the wiring harness,
guages. it will take a lot of time to.

well didnt the RS come witht the z28 suspension anyways? if it did he wouldnt have to worry about it but i see your point and anyone else would. but if you think about it, suspension is really only like a grand, maybe a grand and a half(springs and shocks: 800, everything else: maybe 500).

RS was only an appearance package... it was the Y87 performance package that had Z28 elements included in it, but to the extent of full suspension I doubt. But, if you are going to do this, you might as well forget about stock, and upgrade to aftermarket performance in whatever you can.

i thought that the 96-97 rallysport had a
ground effects kit on it with the flipped

thats right i forgot about all that. but yeah, regardless it would cost a lot to do the conversion. im not saying that you shouldnt look into it, im just tryin to let you know what you are gettin into...
