I'm getting a Suncoast Creations WS6 Hood for my 1999 Trans am. I am not very car smart so I need some help, I'm just getting into cars and learning so I'm like a 2 year old and need help. We'll I have a Super Sucker Ram Air Kit and was wondering if I should get the Suncoast Airbox Kit Or the Volant Cool Air Intake System? My other Question is The suncoast kit doesn't have a lid for the Airbox to make it functional, but would a lid help or what does a lid do. I'm so confused. My idea setup would be to get the Volant and was wondering if I had those would it work? What do you think I should do and would there be like a double ram air effect? Thanks for all the Help!

You will definately need an airbox lid for your air box. If you don't have a lid, just think, all kinds of dirt and junk can get stuck in the filter and clog it up. Let me xplain just a little about intake. Underneath your airbox, if you feel up there, you will feel a small slit or opening under the air filter, this is where air comes into the filter from the outside of the car. The air then passes through the filter which "filters" out all the bad stuff and then after "filterage" is complete, air enters the engine. If you didn't have a lid, hot air from the engine would get sucked up in there, and if you didn't know hot air isn't good for getting good performance on your engine. Also, dirt can fly in from the top instead of going under the filter where it needs to go. And lastly, if there is no lid, when the air is done "filtering", it could just come straight out of the top of the filter, which causes less air to enter the engine which causes decrease in power. If i were you, i would search ebay for a ram air hood b\c i found one that worked great for my 99 Firebird. The company i bought it from was called custom products or something like that. Just type in ram air hood in ebay and make sure it will fit the 98-02 models. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your thoughts. I really want to stay away from Ebay though, got burned bad once and don't really want to take another one. The money's not really a problem I just want a really good ws6 hood and induction kit and trying to find out what to do. Any thoughts on what kind I should get? I've seen one at www.fiberglass-hoods.com, The Suncoast, SLP, www.ramairhood.com, American Sports Car Design. Any thoughts on which one you think is best and why? (if any of these sites aren't allowed on here I apologize I couldn't find links that were allowed or not)
