darndest thing, my 93 dsm has a cooling problem. it runs fine for a little while when the temp is down, but soon as it has ran for a lil while the thermostat opens, but only one of the fans turn on, it isnt the fan because i hooked it up to the batt. and it worked, replace thermostat and relays for fans. sometimes only one fan will work so think it cant be the coolant temp sensor, anyone know???

hey, just to let you know before you go spending a bunch of money on this that not both fans run all the time! when it senses the engine is hot enough both will kick on, but usually only one will run! so in this case you most likely dont have a problem!!!

The second fan is only used when you use your airconditioning ;) 1g has a seperate fuse box for all the AC stuff, on a 2g the ECU has full control of the fans. There are vfaqs on how to wire them so they both come on.

well, that is what is hapening, but the prob is somthing is not triggering fans so car does overheat after about 15 mins of running

on a 1g one fan is controled by the ecu and one by the ac. you may have a different problem causing it to overheat. did you check your coolant level

Niether fan is controlled by the ECU on a 1g. 1g has a temp switch on the lower part of the radiator, near the lower rad hose. But that only triggers the main fan, which on a 1g I believe is the drivers side, but I could be wrong (2g is pass side main fan, drivers side AC fan). The main fan alone should have no trouble keeping temps in control, unless you have a huge FMIC. I need both fans even on the highway in the summer. IF one fan is coming on at 210 like it should, and you are still overheating, something is wrong. What are you using for a guage, stock or aftermarket, or logger?
