Which BMW models used this BMW remote? (pics)

Now, I have seen a ton of Ebay seller's advertising this as a 92 - 98 remote.

I have also seen it listed as a 97 - 01.

I was hoping people could give me some confirmed vehicles for this. Also, is it only 3 series, or multiple series?

That alarm remote will only work on the 92-98 only, alpine alarm.

I recently purchased a remote just like this one on eBay, to use on a 1997 Z3. I followed the programming instructions and it DOES NOT work. I tend to agree with user "98328i" that perhaps it is meant to work with the newer models.
