Power window problem

The power windows on my son's '97 Tiburon don't work - when you press the up or down buttons, you can hear the relays in the switch modules chattering but the windows don't move.

We've tried replacing the switches, but the replacements (used, from a junkyard) chatter also. What are the odds of 4 switches chattering? It must be something else...

Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, what's the fix?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

If it was just one window, I would say the motor. I doubt both motors went bad at the same time, though. Time to break out the wiring diagrams and multimeter.

I tried the motors and both worked OK. Perhaps the switches aren't getting enough current? Maybe the power relay is going bad?

check to see if the window is still on the track for the regulator or that the cables are still on the guides.

Thanks, yes Ichecked and everything is OK with the regulator and the motor. It's only the switches that seem to be the problem - they "chatter" every time we try to make the window go up or down. Today we're going to check the power relay and other wiring - I think the problem is there, someplace!
