i have a 92 jdm b16a motor with 130,000 miles intake/header/exhaust/typhoon intake manifold/aem camgears/ctr camshafts/skunk 2 ecu
my friend has a 96 b18b with 72,000 miles intake/header/exhaust/camgears
he's giving me a garett t3 turb and waste gate wit the trade
he wants to trade me motors we are going to do the work out selfs the reason i want to trade is to go turbo what do you all think about this shoudl i do it?

sounds like a sweet deal to me bro, your gonna be throwing down more power than you are now, plus increasing your displacement and lowering the miles on teh engine itself.. but tell me this, why is he doing this ? ii guess its not comming with an IC, plumbing, BOV, and the rest of the componats needed.. I take it you also know this guys car pretty good, so you should/would know if there were any probloms with it... if all is said and good yeah, its a good deal and i would go for it..i mean hell you can always add a VTEC head on it later and still be even that much more better off....oh and those typhoon mani's blow, so your getting rid of some junk too

yea it just coming with a turbo t3 nothing else... need all the rest of it and yea hjs motor is healthy no problems compression is 170 kinda low but its ok so yea how come the typhon mani blows wats wrong with it? i felt power increase when i instaleled it.... u tell me wtas wrong with it?

well as far as that lower comression..thats good !
as far as the typhoon, they can crack under high pressure, and they have mig welds instead of tig welds so they cant hold as well in that aspect. its pretty much just there to look pretty, i mean it is larger than the OE dont get me wrong so you are getting more air from it, its just a shit quality product with a shit reliability....look at is this way typhoon=150.00 - everything else =350-500 why is that ?
oh yeah and def. dont put that on the boosted motor, cause it will crack eventually

why is the lower cylinder compression good.... i thought the higher the better on the cylinder compression... maybe im wrong... my b16 is putting 205 to each cylinder and i was told thats almost perfect well letme know

yes but on a turbo motor you want a lower compression ratio than on a naturally aspirated engine due to the boost..b series' are naturally higher then your average 4cyl engine anyways

wont a b16 with low compression pistons and turbo charged smoke a b18b turbo?

depends on the ammount of boost you a running, theres alot of variables involved in a statement like that.. A b18b had more tq, than a b16 therefor essentialy faster off the line, the only thing that stands behind the b16a in that scenario is the Vtec, you can always put a Vtec head on your b18b and then you have the best of both worlds..hints why Ls/Vtecs are so popular...keep in mind that money, time and tuning play a roll in everything, so just because you have a b18b, Ls/Vtec or even the b16, there will always be people that will be faster than you..the question at hand is how can you get the fastest you can, for what you can ? And i think your gonna be much better off with the B18b, then later put a Vtec head on it

:iagree: Stock for stock the b16a in a civic, is almost identical in the 1/4 mile as an b18b integra. b16a has more hp, but the b18b has more torque. I would say do it, more displacement is always good. And the low compression that comes with the b18b motor is very turbo friendly, you can run 12psi and a bit higher on a properly tunded b18b w/o haveing to do any block work. Go for it man.

You should do it becuase you are getting a lot lower miles and a turbo. But if you think about it, you can pick up just a turbo for like $400. So it's not like you are getting the whole kit. But the lower miles are definately a plus. Do what you think is good.
