Hey there everyone, I am new to the forum, and came here as a last resort. Nobody around my area, central Canada, seems to know the answer to this. I have a 1998 Honda civic Si (EX model in the USA). I had my Valve cover powder coated, and when I put it back on, a bolt for the cover snapped off. The questions is... if Honda cannot get the broken piece off, I am told that I will need a new cylinder head, Soooo... Can I replace the SOHC Cylinder head with a Cylinder head from a DOHC SiR <-- Canada (Si in the USA) Civic and have everthing, intake manifold, header, blah blah blah, all match up into place properly ? Only answer if you are 100% sure on this.
Thank you
Thank you

no, a DOHC head will not work with your SOHC block

nope, like GScivic said you can't change the SOHC to DOHC. is there any of the bolt left sticking out of the hole? if so you have a very good chance of getting it out. if not, you can always try a screw extractor. the chances of getting it out that way are a little less likely, but it can still be done

Saying that you need a new cylinder head is like saying because you cut your foot you need a new leg, that's retarded. The absolute worse case scenerio is removing the head, having it drilled out filled in and a new hole made. Tell whoever told that to choke themselves to death.

I would like to thank the ones that answered my question. So I am stuck with the sohc which is fine. As is, the piece left in the hole was drilled out, and an extractor (easy out) was put in it to remove it. Half way up, the extractor broke. :D Life is grand. So it is at a machine shop where they are going to attempt to dril it out a second time, then fix the BIGGER hole, lol, with a Heli coil. I am told that it will be good as new... Is this true or bull shit ?
Thnx again
