i knew i'd be happy going to borders tomorrow. i haven't bought a good (ie english) mag in like 4 months. I feel like going on a $50 mag spending spree :)

it looks really good up close imo. It suits it. Btw, it wasn't at borders. 4 mags and $32 later...f-ing rediculous.

jkbon, i have to agree with you there, i didn't like that blueish either, not in real life as well, for those who don't know, this is the T&C car..

This link is old, but in case anyone forgot or just never saw it, there are more pics of this F1 taken on the street in London at this link:

http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4289198571

I'll register my displeasure with the blue interior as well. It's probably still better than the descriptions we have heard of the interior in Rowan's own F1 though. ;)

From another thread on customizing an F1:

Anything other than Rowan's purple leather and suede! :nono:

I recall hearing something similar from another source as well.

Picked up my copy of Evo. A good artical. The blue is horrid though. So is this car #49?

Oh man, I am unhappy. I also went to borders, but they have the May issue, not June. Apparently they are "very strict" in regards to prematurely putting up issues for the upcoming month. I guess I'll have to wait till June.

Peloton25
05-06-2004, 06:24 PM
My guess is that this copy of EVO won't be on US magazine racks for a few more weeks. I have a friend with subscriptions to EVO, CAR and Autocar at his work and they generally run a few weeks behind getting their's as well.

As for the chassis number - I don't recall if we had any suspicions before, but I'm certain one has yet to be confirmed for this F1 so far.

I have it down that this car, 'N884 PWV' is #49 in Mercedes Brilliant Silver, is or was for sale at T&C and the owner as reported in a different article is Juan Barazi.

Peloton25
05-07-2004, 12:58 PM
I think #049 was just an assumption though, made using 'process of elimination' based on the color. I don't think it's actually been confirmed. Maybe someone remembers something different.

how lucky was i?

Off Topic: In regards to the photo in your sig, if you took that you were incredibly lucky. If you have a larger version of it I would love to "borrow" ;) a copy from you. Also, if you have more, please share them. The Elise GT1 is another of my favorites and there simply aren't enough great photos circulating of it.

Thanks in advance!!

I'm surprised no one mentioned the error on the spec page. It says the F1 has a rear anti-roll bar, but it doesn't.

it was mentioned before, i believe even autocar had this wrong in their famous test of it.

EDIT: on the chassis number thing...
i've seen this car in person, doors open, but i don't remember the chassis number and my pics are somehow lost (stupid yes, but i can vividly remember it which is more important!) so i really don't have a good clue on what car it is. Chris has been there as well and he got the chance to sit in it too, so he is someone who should know it like me, but i think he doesn't know it for sure too.

if you've got the issue of evo where the elise GT1 was featured... well, the tourists who unsheathed their fag saized digital cameras were me and my friends who were taking the old folks from hong kong on a trip to leads castle.

the pics were taken right next to where the falsonary shows are done and when they started the engine (to move the car) it more than caught their attention....
great day.

and yeah, i'll find an original file for you.
not sure how big it is though.
pm you later.

Chris has been there as well and he got the chance to sit in it too

I didn't sit in it. I had sat in the blue one a few days before and i felt it was appropriate to ask to sit in it considering they were nice enough to open specially for me. Its an amazing car and i hope to go back this summer and possibly sit in it. I am convinced it is Mercedes Brilliant Silver though

youy didn't catch a glimpse of the chassis plague? no hard feelings, should've done it myself!

Peloton25

I recall Chris saying that the car was parked with the right side near a wall and that he couldn't see the plaque from where he was. No biggee...

It's a real shame that McLaren Cars didn't display the chassis number prominently on the roof like those numbers you see on the roof of a Police car - then we'd have no problem identifying each and every one. ;)

J/K btw...

i meant to say " i didn't feel it was appropriate.." my bad

The guy opened the door and said be careful of the carbon fiber on the floor (some peice was sitting in the passenger footwell). If i had sat in it. the 1st thing i would have done is looked at the chassis #.

If mclaren displayed the chassis on the roof of the car we wouldn't have anything to talk (READ: Argue) about :D :D :D :)

My friend told me about it in class today. How much is the Evo mag here in the U.S.? And the only places to pick it up are like Borders, Barnes and Noble etc.?

Here in the USA, EVO sells for about $8.00 I think - you can find in on most large newsstands as well as at the stores you mentioned. I haven't gone looking to see if I can pick up my own copy. Did your friend see it on a newsstand here in the USA?

Speaking of the june EVO issue, damn borders won't put the issue up until June arrives. THAT'S TOO BLOODY LONG A TIME TO WAIT!!!! Ah well, it will be worth the wait I suppose.

Yes, it's on the shelves in some stores. Tower Records is usually your best bet. I haven't got one but my friend told me he had picked one up last weekend.

There's always Ebay, but it probably won't be cheaper once you pay for shipping:

Ha....wait til june for the mag. I wen to boarders last week and the magazine was sitting there on the stand. I would've bought it there and then but didn't have any money...the money I did have I needed it for my books for japanese class. I go back the next day with more money...well guess what...they got the new issue in and I was so pissed...and still am pissed. I'm doing an essay in my english class on the Mclaren F1 and that article would've been great not to mention bringing in the magazine to do my presentation...but oh well. Thanks to who ever put up the article on this site...thanks a whole bunch.
