Hello people.
Does anyone know where I can find instructions on programming a brand new REMOTE for 2001 Alero. (wife's car) I dont really feel like paying to a dealer if I can help it....

Thanks in advance.
Misha.

Misha,
I believe they have some for sale over at e-bay.com. I think they run from $10-25. Go to ebay then click on the "car and truck" icon under the Accessories section on the right hand side. I would then try typing in Alero or just GM.

Hi,
Did you ever figure out how to program the remote? I just bought a used 2001 Alero and it has RKE installed, but I got no remotes, so I will be looking on eBay to buy one and then programming it.
Thanks,
Mike

Find out from the other person the FCC number and the part number off the back of his existing remote. GM has put out over 60 different remotes. Sometimes they have the same FCC number, but the buttons have different functions that won't work on other models that it wasn't intended for.

Yea...I took the Ebay Remote to a dealer and they refused it, saying "its not the same". I ended up paying $38 for the remote itself and $35 for service. I hate dealers, so be careful.

youdefinately need to gain access to a scan tool. this is the only way it can be properly done. sorry man.

Heres a link from a silhouette post http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=237153

For what its worth it talks about programming a remote off ebay and has instructions for it worth a try.
