Where is the red wire

I have a 98 S-10...it died after never having a problem before, 89,000 miles now so expected something! Pretty sure fuel pump not engaging, not hearing it when first turning key. There is mention of a red wire that you can test pump with. Supposed to be located in upper corner of drivers side. Cannot find this, any suggestions? Have looked through the Haynes book and that is all it says. Would rather check before just going through all the work of replacing. No need to take it in, have diesel tech that also has automotive exp. in the family.
Just need to find that wire???

It might be sticking out of the harness with a black female spade connector, chances are is that its close to the fuel pump relay which I think is in the back part of your glove box

Look under the hood by the brake booster. Should be one red wire with a black female terminal. Should be alot of wires there so you will have to dig around.
