Are line drivers worth buying? If the power gain is what its said to be, which brand is probably the best? My Alpine already puts out 4 volts, so more might not be needed. These are new to me so any info would help.

You don't gain any power by getting a line driver, the only difference is it raises the noise floor in your low-level signal, so there's less chance of getting audible EM interference from whatever your rcas happen to run next to on their path to the amp. If you don't have any noise, then you don't need a line driver. 4V is perfectly fine, IMO a line driver is a waste on anything higher than 2V preouts.

couldn't agree more .... but so many companies have false advertising. If it has a line driver, great, if not - don't worry about it.

My older sony deck (about 3 yrs old) needed a line driver between it and the amps, it didn't put out enough volts to turn anything on, ha. Nowadays all newer decks have adequate power and no need for line drivers.
