just adds more to the argument that elderly people should not be given licenses unless they can pass stricter qualification processes.

agreed whole heartedly. my dad tried to argue with me the other day that they deserved the same processes as the rest of us, since most of them can't be mobile without their car. but how can we let someone who drives 10km/h under the speed limit, with their right turn signal on all the time, who can't hear or see very well anymore, go through the same processes as the rest of us? it doesn't matter if they're old and deserve more rights then us. it's a simple matter of safety. sure, they're old. but they're still a hazard. and if you can't drive, you can't drive, regardless of how old you are. and if you can't drive, you don't belong on the streets and don't get a license. simple as that.
an example of this happening to me: i was heading up the hill out of my town (Bolton), which is a 4 lane road. i come up behind a gold Mazda Protege, doing 60 in a 70, with the turn signal on. the worst part is, it was in both of the lanes heading in our direction, straddling the line. i switched back and forth trying to find enough room to get past it, madly honking my horn. but it didn't seem to have an effect. i finally had an opening, so i went around, look in the car (ready to flip off the person), and it's a little old lady with hearing aids who can BARELY see over the steering wheel. that kind of person, regardless of how their mobility would be affected, DOES NOT belong on the road. she couldn't even hear me honking at her!

Its all about the almight vote! Old people vote. Young people don't. No politician will enforce a strick drivers test for the elderly because they'll be booted from the office. It doesn't matter how many people are killed or injured because of it. :banghead:

:iagree: My old neighbor across the street who now lives in a Nursing home used to back out of his driveway and plow down my mailbox and clip peoples cars that where across from his driveway.. he did it countless times and used to tell us to move our shit out of his way.. WTF.... we are on our 3rd mailbox and all of the family just got in the habbit of staying away from his driveway.. its sad to think about taking the right to drive away (I love driving!!) but there comes a time when it has to be done.. :eek7:

Last week when I was doing some grocery shopping at the almighty Wal-Mart  there was an old lady using one of those motorized carts and she was by herself. She had her walker in the front of the cart. This lady was so fragile looking and could hardly drive the damn thing. She looked cenial and it scared me that she actually drove to the store.

i follow a couple of rules when crossing the street. Don't cross infront of buses - don't cross infront of old cars. NEVER CROSS INFRONT OF OLD PEOPLE
I keep hearing how some old bloke has just run over his partner because he put it into the wrong gear blah blah its sad but they are dangerous.

man that lady is probably married to the old man that swerved into my lane and wrecked my beautiful car... he didn't even hear my tires squel for 155ft. or see me after I came to a complete stop halfway off the road, and then tried to tell me that the wind blew him into my lane... yea a 78 cadilac got blown by the wind... which by the way, happened to be blowing from behind me so how could it blow him sideways? stupid old man
