What do you guys think of...

...me writing to Super Street (a import car mag in the US, for those who don't know) and telling them about our modeling forum and our models. I think it would be really cool and some of us might even get our models in the mag. What do you guys think? I wanted to hear your opinion before I did anything, tho. I'll right them and all, you guys just tell me if you want me too.

I'm not sure they would really care about model cars. I don't really read the mag so you might know better. :D

If I do wind up writing them then I'm going to tell them about the following and in no specific order:
1)This modelling forum
2)This modelling forum's gallery
3)LauBak's gallery
I think they might be interested because the cars are cheap and for many of us (at least me), it will prolly be the closest I'll ever get to owning a Ferrari or Skyline.

It could'nt hurt to try,but seeing as how all the 1:1 car mags here in the "colonies" have dropped model car coverage you may be beating a dead rice bag !:stormzap:

Here's my letter to them! Now we play the waiting game!
Dear Super Street,
This letter isn't really for Loud & Clear or Tech Q&A. I just wanted to alert you guys to the presence of scale car models. Check out AutomotiveForums.com modelling forum and gallery, for example. ( http://www.automotiveforums.com/scalemodeling/ ) Some of these models are of very familiar import cars (S2000's, Civic's, Integra's, Skyline's and Lancer's). The level of detail on these cars is amazing. With the proper photography, it is hard to determine whether or not these cars are scale models or not. They often feature complete realistically modelled engines, excellent interior detail, cloth seatbelts, movable wheels, etc. For many of us, this is as close as we'll ever come to owning a Skyline or Lancer. What's more, the models are cheap ($10-20) and easily put together. Adding even more possiblities are the many modeling manufacturers that sell "performance" add ons. There are Mugen body kits, Volk TE-37 rims and Arta NSX decals to name a few.
Here are a few websites you guys might want to check out about scale car modeling:
Automotive Forums.com Modeling Gallery -- http://www.automotiveforums.com/scalemodeling/ --- mentioned earlier
Lau Bak's Gallery -- http://laubak.50g.com --- one of the more experienced, masterful modellers at the above forum
Hobby Link Japan -- http://www.hlj.com --- arguably the best online modelling store
Thank you for your time. At the very least I hope I've brought the spectacular work of these guys to light.
~John Montgomery
P.S. my middle name is not Michael!

I got the February 2002 issue just a few days ago, so it probably won't make it into the March issue. Probably April issue. Of course that comes out in March. I don't know why they mixed up the dates on magazines! So it looks like at least 2 months. I'll be sure to dig up this thread and scan the mag if they actually do an article on us and models!

Magazines generally have a 3 month lead time. The March issue was ready before January. So it might be more like 4 months before it shows up in print. That is if they decide to print it.
But they'll probably let you know before that. :D
