Barracudas 70-71

hi im intrested in the 70-71 cudas and i would like to get some advice. im 15 years old and really want one. were should i look? and anything that i should know about them? i want one to restore and have as an investment car. please write

Living in the united states, you should have no problem coming across an e-body cuda. Try autotrader.com or e-bay.

No trouble in the US huh? Good luck kid, I've been looking for that 'cuda since 1997. You can get them but you're going to pay over $10k for it. They are like the most popular Plymouth cars ever made along with the roadrunner.

also try hemmings motor news . where do you live?for example i bought a 67 merc cougar but it was 10 hour drive away so i took the greyhound bus to the seller and drove the car back.good luck.cuda`s and challengers are pricey for what you get.

first try not to get your heart set on just one car i wanted a 1970 charger for the longest time and i ignored most that came my way and i wish i wouldnt have but know i got my '67 'cuda and i love it to death (even though i cant put too much $$$ into it) so just keep your eyes open if you see a car in a field go to the house ask for the owner see if theyll sell. thats how i got mine christmas last year my step dad asked if he was selling the car he said yeah. he came home and told me it was a 71 cuda but i still loved it the moment i saw it.

and some times finding a car with the proper street legal equipment is tough sometimes they might not be a good first car it didnt stop me i got my 'cuda when i was 15 and hay i still am.but if you are willing to take the time to resto it cool. just dont get to discouraged

i was looking for a camaro.i found a car in a pic fuzzy pic but it look like a nice looking car so i looked closer at it. then i noticed it was a cuda so i just flipped the page. about a day later i was kicking my self it was a 1970 o 1971 cuda conv. for a $1000 i could have drove it home.i am still just choke about it from 14year ago. have fun kid if you find one keep it. try some auctions, or bankrutcy or drug bust but clean the car first.

What if that convertible had a big block in it, or it was even one of the hemi convertibles? You'd be laughing now.

hey man you arent alone i am 15 also and my dad bought a 1970 aar cuda brand new it was one of the first ones that where hand made sorta speak with the aluminum edelbrok intake etc. and he needed money and instead of selling his 3 dirt bikes he sold.... you guessed it the plum crazy purple aar cuda. 2 weeks later the guy he sold it to let a friend of his drive it and he rolled it into a ditch and the owner broke his neck. the car was fine except the body was ruined. motor and running gear were perfect and the guy owed my dad 300 bucks and so the guy asked my dad if he wanted the car back instead of the 300 bucks and my dad said no..... to this day my dad kicks himself in the ass over this whole ordeal and i do to because ever since i was 7 or 8 and he told me this story and showed me the pictures ive always wanted my very own 1970 aar cuda and it is possible to find em but wit less then 1000 aars remaining its difficult and these guys are right its very exspensive ive found about 15-20 on the internet and they range from 5-10k in restorable condition to 15- 65k in good condition so good luck and happy hunting.... i know ill need the luck part in my search lol

Look for a small block grocery-getter from New Mexico or Arizona...

HAHA 15 and you want a high price cuda and one that's 70-71. I'm 16, and I just got this 73 340 Barracuda, and I had to bust my balls for it. And a 70 car is a lot easy and cheaper to find. And I just say 71 plain jane car go up for 10,000. But chances for finding one of those is low. But if you want one to drive, not for a investment, I suggest you wait till all the old guys die off. Because after they die off, those cars will be less desireable.

Cuda a mopar is a collector car and the insurance is more than $5000+ a year and also your a 15yr old im 14 and i have been around cuda since i was 2 days old my dad had a 1972 cuda 4 speed pistol grip with a 340 it was the nicest car around he rebuilt about every 3 years to make sure it was perfect because of the rust the cars are exspencive. you have to sand blast the car or buy new quarter panels (which are the worst places for rust) or you have to cut out the section of rust and replace it with a piece of sheet metal or you have to fill it with lead. i love the cuda but i told my self (the day i turn 20 i will buy a cuda and rebuilt my self without any help) if you paint it is a mess but if you want more info be please to email me at ([email protected])

2. His dad bought it brand new (i.e. in 1970).

3. His dad sold it because he needed money.

4. He did not tell us when his dad sold the 'Cuda. This could have been in the early '80s during the gas crisis when NO ONE wanted a Trans-Am homologation special and a Hemi 'Cuda could probably have changed hands for a grand or two.

So do us all a favour and take some courses in reading comprehension and general ettiquete. It might be too late to learn good manners, but one should still try to learn to read.

It's not wise to be a wiseass. Especially when you react before you comprehend. That's a recepie for disaster.

While the most popular Cudas out there are the 70-71, I have purchased a 73 to go along with my 71. the 73 cuda i got for a steal of a price but in the end, i have about $17,000 invested in getting to look the way I want it to. here is a link to my Blog page with the 73 on it http://kevinscuda.blogspot.com/ . It needs some final assembly but you get the idea of what goes into restoring a car to the state that mine is in. you can expect to pay out the rear end for a 70-71 Cuda no matter what shape regardless of where it is located anywhere in the world. you cant touch a 73 for under $10,000 so expect to pay much more than that for the years you are looking for and expect to pay 3 times that to get it done properly.

I know where you can look for one.........2010!!!!!!
You still have time to wait until these classics get cheaper......wait until 2010 to 2015 they should go down in price.....Market you know.
Right now you're looking at over 10,000 not in great shape good shape....15,000 - 20,000

I found mine in the local paper. A friend had a friend who was selling one so he offered it to me, I had 2 for a while.
