Burning rubber smell...

everytime i reach high RPM's like 5, or 6s my car smells like its burning rubber, but like not just rubber burning, a bit of metal too. We thought the E'brake was too tight and was grinding against the tires a bit and causing the smell, but after we did work on that, i reach high RPM's and it gives me the same smell... any idea? Thanks

well it sounds like your clutch is going it could be your brakes as well but its most likely your clutch unless you know for sure its not that

Funny thing is that we changed the entire clutch when i bought the car 5 months back. But then again i was LEARNING to drive manual back then, and there is a big chance i might have f*cked it up while practicing... Well thanks alot.

no i would doubt that but actually now that i think of it, it could be your slave cylinder, you sometimes think aht its gone when its actually the slave cylinder, if its not slipping at alll i would check that or even adjusting it a bit

As soon as I bought my car I had that burning smell then one day I got in and the shifter wouldnt engage. We had it towed to the dealership and it cost 500$ and they replaced the slave and master...god damn bastards just replacing things for more money.
