Hello Everyone,
I'm thinking about buying a 1987 4 runner. It looks like its in pretty good shape. 4 cylinder, 5 sp, 4wd. Nicer toyota rims. There is a small dent in the back. Power windows all work but passenger needs new motor. I drove it a short distance, felt good. No alignment problems. AC even works. There is a "sensor" thats disconnected because it "needs" to be replaced. Anyways, the dude will sell for $700. I think it a good deal but what the heck do I know? The engine has 180k miles. Think I could get another 50k? Any and all feedback is appreciated! What should I look for as far as engine wear/condition? Thanks a lot!

700 doesn't sound too bad. watch out for rust on those things though, i know they tend to be pretty holy sometimes. anyway, find out specifically what sensor needs to be replaced and see if it's something important. also, ask if the timing belt was changed somwehre between that 180k miles. those 4 cylinders seem to run forever if you take care of them.

Make sure the 4WD works like it is supposed to. Get a compression check if you can.
