power steering pump

I need to replace the power steering pump in my 98 Jimmy. When I went to the autopart store to buy the pump, the salesman told me I was going to need to remove the radiator and that I may need a special tool to remove the pully behind the radiator. If anyone has done this, any advice would be appreciated...should I just take it to a mechanic or can someone with a little experience do this at home? Do I need special tools before I get started?

That's why the guy at the auto parts store is working there and not in a dealership. :grinno:
You will need a pulley puller, but they are relatively inexpensive, and you may be able to "rent" one from the parts store (around here, VIP auto parts rents tools).
As far as removing your radiator, :screwy: You DO have to be careful not to hit it as you use the pulley puller, but other than that....
Good Luck on your project, and hope this helps.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was not looking forward to draining the radiator and I wasn't too sure about the pully. I am going to attempt to do this next week. God bless!
