:( Has anyone had any experience with locked diffs. Is it worth a shot as I wheelspin a lot. Arrowdiff does one for $250 and reckons I'll be amazed at the difference and I will only notice bad effects on u-turns. Are they legal?

Better off with a LSD. Have you ever driven a car with a locker in it in the wet it is not much fun + you will get the rong kind of people looking at your car, you know the boys in blue, only problem it will be more money to spend on the LSD

I've got a mechanical locking diff in mine. I must say that's it handles a lot different to a fwd open diff!!!!
But seriously, yep, more traction, once you get used to the handling it's great. It does skip the inside wheel on tight slow corners though, which can get anoying.
Alot of people said that they chew tyres up real fast but I haven't had that problem yet.
If I was you I would wait till your tyres need replacing, and get some good sticky tyres. If that fails, then look at a mechanical, but never weld your diff.
Ohhh yeah, their not legal.
BTW: they aren't that bad in the wet. If you've got any type of car that has a decent amount of horsepower at the wheels you should take it easy in the wet anyway.

Try a decent set of tyres, I put Continentals on mine a have trouble forcing wheelspin now, even on the track and in the wet.
Option 2 - lift the right foot a bit.

If not then get your rear suspension well set-up , fit adjustable camber kits / adj' sway bars / shocks / springs the lot!!! & then have it all adjusted by a specialist, It'll make a BIG improvement trust me. The down side??? it's very costly:( but even the camber & sway bars will make a very noticeable difference (did for me that's for sure).
The standard rear camber isn't the greatest for rear grip & if the car is lowered without any other sus' mods then it'll be worse, much worse!!!
You should already have a LSD standard, maybe it's not locking up due to problems?
With good suspension & rear rubber (as the other guys have said) you'll find it will grip far better, a locked diff is a bit of a compromise IMHO, unless your always drag racing.
