Ok, here is the deal. I inherited my grandma's truck. It is a 2003 and has a V6 in it. Its a single cab short bed, and it needs more power. What I want to know is what is the best motor to swap it out with. I want more power w/less work. I don't know if I have to swap out the auto tranny out or not. I want to ask all of you instead of a shop because I want the truth. I going to drop it 3/4 and put rims on it, but I need to know about the rearend too.

Well, in my experience, the best thing to do is trade the vehicle. You will probably spend more in time and money to swap the motor, than to trade it for an 8. (not to mention potential problems down the road)

I agree it would be easier to sell it and buy one with a v8, if u swap out you will probably have to change out the trans, not to mention the the tortion bars for the extra weight and the computer and wiriing because you will have 2 more cylenders so thats 2 more injector connections and 2 more coil connections and the list will go on and on. the cost of the swap would probablly be more than 8k in parts alone. u can probably get one with a v8 for 3 or 4k more than what you can sell yours for and use the the 5k u saved over the swap to put a supercharger on the v8. you'll have so muck power you'll pop wood when u mash the pedal down.
