i am only 13
Dont get me started on the Age bullshit. I have already Hi-Jacked somebody elses thread for this. Age does not matter, I have been drawing since before I could write. Age does not matter at all, people say I am 17 so I cant weld. Wow, Im 15 and I can weld. Age doesnt play a factor in knowing how to draw. Its something you are good at or arent. I dont mean to flame, but Im just tired of seing "I am only X so its not that good".
Draw from a picture. Dont draw on notebook paper. Get a large variety of templates, curves, pencils, and erasers. Now that drawing you did took 30minutes. Theres one problem, it looks rushed. It looks like you just slapped down some lines and called it a car. I spend weeks, and even months on a single drawing sometimes.
Another thing, is what the hell is it supposed to be? The rough looks like it began to melt and that rear wheel is aiming off towards the front left. The tires are like cones. You have 3 headlights. The hood looks like it began to melt.
You said be harsh so I was somewhat, that is no where near as harsh as I could be.
Now for the support. Draw from pictures a majority of the time until you get the lines down real well. As a matter of fact, I who hate those that trace (I think it is for the devil) are reccomending you to trace, many, many, many, many, many, many cars, and then start drawing freehand. You really need to work on the contours of the lines, get used to the way things look, and how things flow.

Just practice, or be specific as to what you want help with. Check out the FAQ and Tutorials section at the top too.

...Me neither.
Lol, Mike, you seem to know what you're talking about. I noticed the same things. It just looks slapped together. I take up to a week, sometimes longer, to do my drawings. KustmAce and I can't quite add anything, so I'll give the thread back to you.

When you start to draw young and you don't stop to do it, that's shure you will have talent. A person can have 30 year old, but if he never draw since he had 4 years old, that's shure his drawings will look like if he is 4, even if he is 30.

In other words...practice makes perfect. You gotta get the lines down right first before you can start getting into making the realistic points on the car. Straighten the lines out, get the proportions down correct. Make sure all your angles line up. Would say more, but time to run.

miro2414 (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=179061), i dont think this is ur best work. I mean u have THREE headlights. u said "i am only 13" at this age u could b a very skilled artist, such as stuffbyalex and many others. And by the way not to be mean but cant u draw a straight line?

You asked to be harsh? Well, I'm capable in of doing that. Your drawing really doesn't have any proportions to any car. Take a look thorugh a magazine, pick a nice car and TKAE YOUR TIME!! Browse drawing forums, not only this one... You will get inspired right away, and you will learn a lot more. For instance you thought you needed fancy art supplies for drawing. Not quite. You could use the coals from your fireplace... You don't need to draw your favorite car right away, you HAVE to go throught he shoebox stage, where you start with the basic boxes, add more detailed lines, more little things till you get a car. If you're complicated, get a book, there are many of them.

Hey. All ya really need to do is picture the car ya wanna draw in your mind-fron the angle ya wanna see it from, and draw what ya see.
It helps to keep the perspective right by first drawing a 3D rectangular box (showing proper perspective, according to the angle your looking at the car from) in pencil lightly and then make sure all the lines of your car follow the angles of the box. Like, say, a front 3/4 view from the left side....The front of the car would occupy the front of the box, the left side would occupy the left side of the box-getting slightly narrower as you'd go back, following the angle of the box's lines.
Seein' as all you'd see is the front, the hood and some of the top, ya don't need to worry about the right and back sides.
The box idea works really good for keeping the perspective. Ya can erase the box after it's done and before long, ya get a feel fo how the perspective works and ya no longer need the box.
Just a trick I learned.

That doesnt work for a lot of people, especially those that are inexpierienced. And apparently doesnt work for this guy.

I doubt that any one would want to lie about their age. I don't see the point, plus there are such things as very good artists!

I believe art can be learned. I started at 21, and make my living at it. It took countless hours practicing, and a desire to learn about it all.
My suggestions to you:
Buy some books. Draw. Then Draw, and after you're done with that..DRAW!!
It takes a long time to get good. I'm still not there myself. It's about the pursuit.
Sharpen your pencil and hit the paper.
You'll get better.

Why do your drawings look like they are melting? The grid lines are straight then the car looks as if it were melting. Dont be afraid to use a ruler for cars.

this car also looks rushed, damn...using the grid is easy, just draw each box exactly the same as the original pic. its small and therefore it's pretty easy, and like mike said, rulers work pretty good. haha.. this is a nice thread

Hey man, you're gettin better already. That looks much better than the first car you drew. Just a few things, you'll have to work on the proportions and you gotta work on getting those lines straightened out. Also, you gotta be careful on the wheels, but as a starter don't worry about that right now, you have plenty of time to get those down later. Just work on gettin your lines straight.

mainly, take your time, it took me 5 hours today just to do a basic outline of the next car im drawing. i had time so i had a chance to work on it, i thought i'd get farther but im still missing rims and the front details, so just slow down and im sure your drawings can be great.
