I know that the Merkur is a German-built Ford Re-Badged for sale in the US. There were only 2 models, and they were only available in the US for a couple of years.
They were the Scorpio

(goes by the same name in Germany)
and the XR4Ti

(which is the top-of-the-line version of the Ford Sierra in Germany)
(P.S. Both of these cars belong to the same person on cardomain.com, you can check them out at http://www.cardomain.com/id/merkur101 )
Personally, I own a 1990 Ford Scorpio. (I live in Germany) And I love it. It has a 2.0 DOHC I4 instead of that crap 2.3 SOHC engine that the US Scorpio shares with the Fox Body Mustang.
Which leads me to beleive that it may be possible to swap a Mustang 5.0 engine into a Scorpio without much work other than re-wiring the dash into a Mustang engine harness. :evillol:
Right now I'm researching into this to see if someone out there makes a harness kit for the swap, so if you know anything about this matter, please post it!
