How to test htr. blower motor?

I removed the blower motor on my 91 EX because the switch was indeed sending a signal to the motor. The motor fails to work. I'm just wondering if resister failure is a common problem or if the motor itself would be more likely to fail. I think I'll try to power up the motor using a battery. If this doesn't work is there an easier way to test the motor? Thanks!
