Ok i know its real early but i'm thinking bout it all the time so please bare with me and give me your :2cents: on this
Well this 2004 election will be my first time voting for pres i'm really happy i'm able to voice my veiws but here inlies my problem. As far as i am i'm hardcore librateian. *vitcim of US school system execuse my spelling*
So with out needed to say much more i really dont want to see Kerry in office Bush either but i rather him then Kerry. So What i'm thinking is 3rd party it I'll vote libby they *other parties* seem to be gaining power and maybe helping them is my best idea or should i go with GOP just to help defeat Kerry cause I dont think Libbys will win and well Bush can use every vote he can get.
I'm torn cause I feel that i need to protect my self but i want to speak my voice. so what i'm stuck between is Someone i am so so for but stands chanse of winning VS what i beilve but probbly not a shot to win.
So anyone have any ideas to help me with my delimma?
*PS if this should be in stress area feel free to move it*

I think it's a good idea if you're not sure. Instead of throwing your vote away and not voting, go for the third party.

I am in a similar situation. I don't want to see either Bush or Kerry win. Mostly not Kerry. So I have been looking at a third party also. I'm leaning towards Ralph but am still not sure. People tell me I am throwing away my vote. I don't listen to them because they are wrong. A vote is never thrown away. Vote for who you want to vote for because you believe he will do a better job than the person he is running against. The person you voted for may not win the election but at least you voted the way that was right for you and not someone else.

I'm torn between the libertarians and the tax payers party. Either one is closer in line to the fiscal policies I'd like to see but their canidates are to narrowly focused.
Much like Ralph, they have some specific points of view on several topics, but the others, they have no opinions. Until these third party canidates take a stand on all major issues addressing the country, they won't appeal the broadest array of voters.
Because I approve of Bush in a broader sense then either of the other parties I mentioned, at this point, I'll be voting for him. Kerry also has a better standing with me for at least having an opinion (regardless of how often he flops around on some of them) - he just has worse fiscal and immigration proposals then Bush. Kerries stances will lead to dramatic increases in inflation. It would be ugly.

everyone pretty much covered it. im experiancing a similar situation myself. I think it is time the populace of this country got rid of the two party system, becuase its really just forced us to start choosing between the better of two equally horrible canidates. dont vote for a party, vote for a person.

The only way I can see a third party emerging in the US political scene is if it is internet based...
Let's face it, no mainstream media source is about to start pushing for a new party.

Also a victim of your parents not spending time helping you learn. The only reason I can spell and read well is because my mother helped me out every night with primer books that she purchased herself and helped me go through. It's sad to say that the school system needs to be supplemented like that, but it does, so it's up to parents to take up the slack.
PS. Third parties have made it before, where do you think the Republican party came from? Lincoln was actually their first candidate and just happened to slip by while the Democrats were fighting with each other.

I never had problems reading, or really writing. If anything, my writing skills degraded once I got into middle school.
As for third parties, while people will tell you that you're throwing your vote away, with more candidate you need less, and less percentage of the entire populations vote - with two people, somebody has to get more than 50%, with three, somebody just needs to get more than 33%
With as close as the last election was, perhaps we need a stronger 3rd party, that more people will vote for - especially since this upcoming election's two main candidates are both such losers.

My reading and writing is great but spelling tends to evade me still to this date. But i dont need to rant about how much my schooling sucked long story short smart kids suffer cause there told its bad to be better. *least at my school*
See 2stroke thats what keeps getting me to think about 3rd parties is they seen to grow stronger. Well i still got time to think bout it.

Whoops! thanks for reminding me, that's another thing liberals have introduced, the whole, 'feeling good is better than actually doing good' concept, which has led to an innumerable amount of children today having absolute crap for math and reading/grammar skills.

Are you talking about the "no child left behind" bull shit? If so I totally agree. I fucking cannot stand the fact that they feel some kid is gonna get his feelings hurt blah blah blah. By the time they reach high school they're going to be so far behind they're going to drop out and start roaming the streets. My friend is just wrapping up her final semester of class to b/c a elementary school teacher. Part of what she had to do this semester was tutor/mentor a few kids. She said on kid was in second grade and couldn't spell the word "to". TO for christ sake! She said he couldn't even recite the alphabet. And they expect to just send kids along the way so they don't get their feelings hurt. Another reason this country is going down the shitter.

What's MMP? You'll probably answer and I"ll feel dumb, but nonetheless.
MMP stands for Mixed Member Proportional (I think the P means something else) anyway, it is the electoral system of Germany and New Zealand. What happens is that each voter gets two votes; one for the Member of Parliament in thier Electorate (Region) and one for thier chosen party.
Now in New Zealand there were 120 Seats in the house of representatives, 60 of these seats were for New Zealands 60 electorates, while 6 were for Maori electorates (Which I disapprove of having) and 54 were for list MP's who didn't win thier electorate.
Now to get one of these 54 seats a Party has to get in excess of 5% of the party votes and the party that gets the most votes, naturally gets the most seats, while the remaining seats are shared around by the parties that got less votes.
This allows smaller parties to get into Parliament, as very rarely does a small party win an electorate seat (For God-knows whatever reason) this makes Parliament more representative of how New Zealanders voted (Before MMP was introduced to NZ in 1993, when NZer's had one vote; parties like the Alliance and Social credit were getting up to 20% of votes but not winning any electorates and hence not getting any representation in Parliament)
Sorry if my description is a little vague, but I gave it my best shot.

Well school is a two sided deal, you can't just sit there and learn, you have to participate to get anything out of it. I'd rather see the government continue to control and provide schooling, than have it turned over to private concerns who run schools like prisons - which is what I know alot of so called "conservatives" would like to see.
Though I find it rather stupid that kids are let off of the hook, because it might hurt your feelings. It's setting them up for failure in the real world if they can't deal with feedback.

I agree 100% with schools being left in government hands, however, the government method of solving problems, (ie. 'throw more money at it!), won't work for them.
