my edelbrock headers came with a 3in y-pipe, slipped onto the cat, used an exhaust clamp on it, then the cat had a bracket on it that bolted up to the flowmaster exhaust system. which is also 3in. oh and im using a catco converter. i reccomend random technologies, i put one of those on my RS, and i noticed a much bigger difference between that and the dynomax on my 305, and the system on the IROC's 350. dont get me wrong the flowmaster is louder, and sounds awesome. but i think at some time soon ill be putting a random tec converter in place of the catco.

Ok, I have an LS! car... as far as I know it is a 2.75" system stock. IROC, the cats are only $35 so I'm gonna go with Catco, but say I throw it on my stock car (2.75") how do I make it fit (3" cat)

as far as making the cat fit the pipe, catco makes more than one style of cat. they probly have one that fits. rather than modding something up. but if you want the bigger cat, any muffler shop will be able to flair the 2.75in pipe out to 3in to fit inside the cat proporly. you just heat the pipe to cherry red with a torch, and use a pipe spreader to stretch it out. that or they will create an adaptor to connect the two. those are pretty much the only options to do that that i know of.
