How do i remove a alternator from a 1994 grand am with a QUAD 4 cyl.?? Mine just recently took a crap. Does anyone also know how to fix the actual alternator? Links or responses to my questions would be great, thx.

You gotta know exactly whats wrong with the alternator before you can rebuild it , alot of times they get so worn its cheaper just to replace them. Alternators are cheaper than ever these days , and ive heard good things about the cheap no name oem replacements.

First, you have to remove the serpentine belt.
I have to use a wrench with close end and open end at the each ends. Use the close end to put on the bolt of the serpentine belt tensioner and then I use another wrench to use as a leverage so I can turn the serpentine belt tensioner loose and remove the serpentine belt.
The alternator itself is just held down by a couple large bolts. Have it tested first at either Autozone, Advance Autoparts, most autoparts store can test them. What ever you do have them test it first before you buy another alternator.

Ok, im a newb. How do i remove the belt? Be detailed pls as in locaton. Any diagrams would be great. I tested it myself to make sure it was the alternator.... turned the car on and disconnected (-) cable from the battery, then engine died. BTW im gonna get a new alternator.
