Cheap mods

Ok so now that an air intake system isn't that much better than the OEM box. A drop in K&N filter will do.

My next question is: besides for a drop-in filter- what are some cheap mods that increase HP/torque WITHOUT VOIDING the WARRANTY? So chips are out.

new bypass valve... OEM audi tt valve is like $27 and will hold boost better than stock... other than that...exhaust?

About the warranty, the chip only voids the warranty of parts that it affects. So if your, say, tie rods go out, you can still get those replaced under warranty. But to tell you the truth, there isn't much you can do to gain hp without voiding the warranty. Be careful with K&N filters and other oill empregnated filters, cause the oil comes off lots of times and coats the MAF sensor with oil, which really screws things up. The MAF is located just after the filter, so it is prone to doing this. I know lots of people who run K&N's and have no probs, but others really get screwed. (MAF's are lik $250!). An exhaust would do you a little bit of good, but it would probably cost more than a chip. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
