4.6 sohc.. PLEASE HELP...

Im new to forums so please excuse me if I do anything incorrectly. Im having some major problems with my sohc 4.6 I change the spark plug wires and it'll work good for like 5 days thenn start studdering if I take them out and wait like 2 hours and reinstall them it runs good for awhile again.. Im only throwing codes for o2 sensor, no coil problems..

I have a chip not sure which exactly, BBK cold air intake, Basani offroad x pipe, king cobra clutch kit. I just dont understand, I went and bought some stock replacements and they do the same thing.. I dont wanna waist money on performance wires cause im working on another project I just want mine running good.. Any help would be appreciated.. BTW My cars gearing is out of wack 1st 45mph, 2nd 85mph, 3rd 130mph, 4th 158mph 5th probably like 175or so never gotten that fast.. On the expressway I love it. On the streets I hate it. I dont know what gears to get though. when my car wasnt studdering I got it up to 162 and spent 3 days in county for wreckless indangerment, but when the cars running bad it barely gets to 145.. Any help would be great. Also one of my buddies thinks I might have a s281 engine or something but I dont know my car has an extra pulley if any one could explain a reason i'd be appreciative.. thanks people..

Since you are throwing codes for the 02's, have you replaced them? That could be your problem.

Why do you think you have a Saleen motor in your car, how about a little more info on what your are driving?

It has an extra pulley and the block serial numbers didnt match up to the car and it has new intake manifold gasket and such..

Ok, I spoke with the previous owner and he said it was his sons car and he was in the military and it was supercharged. He said his son removed it because they wouldnt take it as a trade in (why would they be that stupid I dont know) He said it has comp cams also and when it was supercharged it hit a 12.98 with 4.10 gears but he put those in his new car he bought a mach 1. So anyway.. I have a damn GT with a S281 I guess without the charger. talk about sucking a$$.. On top of that my stock wing got jacked last night along with all my emblems.. So im all depressed.. I might just end up pulling the engine and selling it and putting a 347 or 393 stroker in it.. Oh and the engine had a spun bearing when his son got it and they put a big one piece main bearing cap set thing on it, and got some flat top pistons from the same place. He told me his son was always taking the car to a shop called sean hiland.
Anyway, im new to the 4.6 and dont like hearing all this I dont know what the hell I have anymore so if anyone could help me i'd appreciate it. Im about ready to get rid of this damn thing. :banghead:

It sounds like your car is running crappy because you have supercharger spec cams without the supercharger. The part of the way supercharger cams work is that the intake valve typically doesn't stay open as long. Since the velocity of the air going into the engine is greater with the boost from the supercharger it doesn't need to be and compression can start sooner. The engines fuel system is could still setup for the supercharger being on. This would cause the engine to run very rich and crappy. It would also most likely trip the o2 sensor code because the reading the sensor is getting is out of it's programed range.

Pull the chip out and see what happens. I don't see 4.6 S/C cams causing a lot of trouble. And I doubt you have a S281 motor unless you won a S281 Saleen.

Ok got more info. this morning. I talked to the son this morning. Its a s281 long block that had spun a bearing and he got it for $185 and he put his gt crank and some custom rods and pistons in it from that shop. and installed his gt intake manifold etc. Im not sure if I believe him though but I kinda do cas my car has a tremec t-5, bbk intake, basani x-pipe, king cobra clutch, I think it has a chip not for sure but my car doesnt top out, so im assuming so. Anyway, im learning more and more about my new/used car everyday. And I thought 4.6's were crap, I spanked the crap out of a 95 5.0 and his buddies 1991 5.0 they both had intake and exhaust. Tonight they want me to run there buddies 2002 GT with headers and exhaust so i'll let you know what happens.
