i got pulled over....

jer and i were leaving the shop. we needed to get over into the right lane to turn at the light. he gets over. i look to get over and see i'll be pulling over in front of a cop. i swear i didn't even get all the way over and his lights went off. jer pulls into a shooping center and i pull behind him (leaving a couple of car lengths)...apperently this wasn't good enough and the cop sounds the siren at us. jer pulls over more...i thought the cop was directing that at me as i was in the middle of the lot. i start to pull next to jer and the cop freaks out. ROTFL. i pull off where he wants me and he walks up to the car:

me: what did i do now? (generally, i wouldn't give such an answer)
cop: ma'am i will gladly tell you however, first i must advise you i am video and audio recording this stop.
cop: the reason why i stopped you is because as soon as you got over i noticed you had no seat belt mounted to your pillar. upon stepping up to the car i see you have a 4 point harness.
me: i literally took it out today ('twas no lie*)
cop: it is not illegal to upgrade, it is illegal to downgrade
me: the points are mounted in stock locations
cop: i see that, you have a nice day

cop to jer: you can go ahead and talk to her now, sir
jer: we were on our way home, i'll talk to her there :disappoin

*i did just take out the rest of my belts earlier in the day. after the new seats + harness was added my old stuff we just left there flapping in the wind. i was at the shop not really doing anything so i delt with them. it was the first time i had taken my backseat out out & rear panels apart. i ended up unmounting the belt from the pillar, wraped it up neatly, zip-tied, and then tucked them behind a beam behind the panel. there was going to be a nasty hole so i bolted the bolt cover back up and used gorilla snot on the bolt to hold the cover down since there was no longer a belt system to clip to.

i hadn't been harrassed by a cop in quite some time...not since the last time i tried another shot at the red/clear tails. so i figured i'd share with the rest of the class.

its not illegal to upgrade? So would that mean that 5 point harnesses are street legal?

you shoulda pulled out the mac 10 fixes all my problems

Seems like I started driving a camaro and stopped getting pulled over.. but I used to get pulled over all the time for one thing or another.... always got warnings.. never any tickets. Of course, most of the cops know me by now and were just pulling me over to dick with me. damn small towns.
I expect to start getting pulled over again when I start driving my del sol around.

no seat belt = illegal. 4 point harness mounted to the 2 stock mounting points (+ 2 other points) = legal

EDIT: check your local laws. the belts are stamped with "offroad or show use only, not D.O.T. approved"...what may fly in OR, may not fly in your town. don't send me your tickets because i'm not paying :icon16:

as for him getting me with a ticket....HA! he wishes! i'm 2 legit 2 quit :grinno: i have license, registration, insurance, and all legal mods. jer thought he was going to slap me with the ol' "you didn't signal for 100ft before gettting over" :dupe:

Glad to hear he wasn't a dick and just let you go. I wish I came across nice cops like that more often.

I've met so many 'nice' cops... it helps that I'm stuck with a stock Si till summer, but how's 45 in a 25 or accelerationg to 38 in a 25 infront of a cop? Not to mentiaon all little ones where they just wana look things over and run teh plates.

I kept getting pulled over in WA for not having a stock seatbelt, but once they saw that I had my 4 point they'd let me go. They get pissed if I only wear the lap belt though. Said something about if my car came with lap and shoulder belts then I must always have a lap and shoulder belt on (which a 4 point covers when used correctly).

ok that is great you didnt get a ticket...i puilled into this church to meet some friends of myne b4 we deicided to go out and there happens to be a police station in the parking lot as well(didnt know) and my friend comes runnin at me and jumps on my hood i stopped revved my engine just for shits and giggles since it is stock with a tip and then i see a dark figure coming out from the side and my friend mentions oh by the way thats a cop station some im like oh great....the cop comes over walking of course and asks if i have i licends i said ya nad just sat there for about 5 seconds (playing dumb) then he says well can i see it i said um hang on so i went digging in my back pocket for about 15 seconds then go to hand it to him and my window was onliy down like4 inches and i get it about 6 inches from the window and he freaks out I CANT GET THAT THROUGH GLASS YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO ROLL DOWN YOUR WINDOW then i hand it to him and i said is there a problem officer he syasy YES where is your registration i said hang on then he yells I AINT NO BRIDGTON COP which is my home town and the guys face starts getting red then i hand the registration to him and insurance he drops the insurance back in the car doesnt even look at it i gave him kinda a dirty look not REALLY bad but like a WTF look then he told me not to play smart with him he will give me a ticket for having someone outise the vehicle not buckled up then he looks at it a little longer then just drops it in the car and walks away...does that seem odd to you.? he did not say "stop fucking around" or... "dont be stupid there is a police station there".."watch waht your doing next time" ...he just walked away...i was like uhh....i guess im not getting a ticket...

its the city..so you usually dont move very fast...especially if a cop is directing traffic...that just means somethings going on and there's even more traffic! haha
