Oil Consumption ?

I have a silly question for anyone who can help. I purchased my 93 Metro Convertible in Feb with 93000 miles. It has been well cared for by the previous owner. I've recently took two 600 mile trips. Each time I had to put in a quart of oil. Is this common or am I just being paranoid?
The car is currently using synthetic oil. I know I read alot about that and it is not recommended, but that is what the previous owner used. I am afraid to change back to regular. Any advise?
Thanks in advance :)

as long as synthetic oil has been used for a while in the car you should be fine, as far as the oil consumption that is way too much, 2 qts in 1200 miles. you could try switching to a "high milage" motor oil, that should slow it down a little but it wont be night and day affect. switching the oil wont hurt your car as long as you dont switch from week to week, also run at least 10w30 motor oil. it recomends 5w30 but it burns through tha oil alot, geozukigti can explain that better then me.

I have no spots or oil leaks. I have noticed and forgot to mention that my exaust manifold gasket looks dried and warped. Could that have anything to do with it?
Thanks for any comments

Ditch the synthetic oil. Suzuki motors drink it. I've had 2 swift GT's, 5 metro convertibles, and 2 metro hatchbacks. I used synthetic in 3 of them, and they all burnt it, until I went back to 10w30 dinosaur oil.
