95 V6 4X4 check tranny light

The check transmission light on my 95 Rodeo(136,000 miles) comes on after the vehicle warms up and stays on until the vehicle cools down or at least this seems to be the case. I have never felt the tranny slip or act strange is any way, I have checked the fluid level and it is ok as well. The engine temps are within range and I get no CEL, so I'm hoping there is an easy fix. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Shen,
Any luck on your problem? Do you notice of transmission slip or no 1st/2nd/3rd gear?

I have a 95 Rodeo as well @ 230K. I just had the transmission fluid flush, I mean flush. The transmission light comes one time about 3 weeks ago!! and the transmission appears of not having power to it when the car starts from a stop!!! After picking up speed, everything is find. I suspect that this happens when the engine warms up (but not sure). I took it to the transmission shop, and the tech did a test drive, he said that I had no 2nd gear!!!
It just doesn't make sense since the car is fine in the morning or late at night, i.e. engine is cool!!!

Please share....
Thanks

I have a 96 4x4 3.2L with 155K miles and my check trans light has been on for the last 35K miles. I have had no slipping and it shifts through all the gears fine. The dealer said that the light was showing a code for internal slippage and I should have the trans rebuilt. Well needless to say after 35K miles and no troubles I have learned to ignor the light.

I did have an issue at about 50K miles where the check trans light went on and the trans went into safe mode which started it in 3rd gear. It needed a new shift sylenoid or some such part.

Don't know if this helps, but I thought I would share my situation...

Heritage72,

Thanx for sharing the info.
Regarding the problem you encountered at 50K which the trans entered 3rd gear, can you elaborate on the symptom and which parts you had replaced. This might be what I'm seeing (intermittently though), and mine has 230K, and runs good so far.
