Questions of my LS

Just bought my 2000 LS V8 last week. I love it by the way and have wanted this car since it came out in 2000. I do notice that the Tranny is jerky going from drive to reverse and was wondering if this was a problem. During regular driving i can sometimes feel the shift and other times i can;t. The car has 76,000 miles. Also wondering what programming the PMAC(sp?) is? Would this help and how much should it cost. LAst question, i bought an extended warranty through eagle warranty corporation. They say they cover all parts that are internally lubricated which seems weird cuz i would assume the whole tranny is internally lubricated. ANyone know about these third party warranties and whether or not they are reliable when it comes time to repair?

thanks

Third party warranties don't have best reputation, but there are lots of folks who use them and say they're satisified. Just be sure to read the fine print.

Can you desrcibe your problem in a bit more detail? There are several common complaints about the automatic's shifting characteristics which are "normal". Some of those complaints are slow or erratic shifts. By "jerky", do you feel the car shudder (vibrate), or is it simply an abrupt engagement. There is an update available for the PCM that addresses some shifting concerns, but it's impossible to tell visually if you have the update. You'll have to contact a Lincoln dealer so they can look into the service history. Cost of the update (re-flash) should be minimal (~$50) to free depending on the dealer.
