The 'R35' GT-R should be quite a bit faster than the V35, or even the R34 GT-R.
Even at the most conservative power estimate of 400hp(other estimates as high as 470hp+), the 'R35' will be a big performer. The VQ motor in the GT-R might be about 3.2L. The newer VQ motors supposedly have a closed deck, and they have always had iron cylinder liners. Combine this with Cosworth preparing a special version for the GT-R, and the tunability should be just about as good, if not better than the RB26. It should eclipse the R34 GT-R in just about every area, considering the V35s already surpass the R34 in some respects.
The next GT-R will be FM based, but the variant of that chassis is up in the air at the moment. It could use the CPV35 Skyline/G35 Coupe's variant, which is about 10 inches longer than the Z33 Fairlady/350Z. There is also a rumor of the GT-R using an even longer FM variant, dubbed the 'FR-L,' or 'Front-engine, Rear-drive, Large.' The upcoming Nissan Fuga/Infiniti M35/45 will be using this chassis.
The 'R35' GT-R is supposed to be targeting the Porsche 911, probably the Turbo model, so you know it will be fast.

I believe the "R35" you show in your top post is a concept car that was NEVER production. Actually I thought that was a GTR concept for what the R34 was going to look like before they ended up with the body style that they chose (duh).
As far as R35 vs. V35, I was under the impression that the R was for RB motors (i6's) and the V was for the V (V6 and V8??) series engines. Now I'm not sure, but I thought the x35 (X being a variable their folks) skylines ALL have V oriented piston arrangements, even the GTR.
from http://www.jbskyline.net/V35/GTR/Print/
"The engine choice is still much of a speculation. Rumors vary between turbo-charged V6 and V8 or normally aspirated V8 (at least for international markets), which are expected to produce between 335hp and 450hp. Unfortunately, the days of the fabulous RB26-DETT appear to be counted, but at least the new car will continue to use ATTESA, the GT-R’s computer-controlled all-wheel-drive system. New for the coming GT-R will be variable damping control for the suspension and a paddle-shift six-speed gearbox."
So if the x35 GTR has a V engine in it I don't think they would call it an R35. Also I think that the x35's will no longer use any RB engines so what, "Not yet anyway but soon. Just wanted to know if any 1 had the DL on the r35" is about, I have NO idea what you are talking about, please clarify.
What makes you say R35?
do you think the x35 skylines will feature an RB engine? if so... what makes you think that.
do you think that nissan will call the GTR an R35 just for fucks sake? again... what makes you think that... I just have NO idea where you are coming from with this R35 stuff and think I speak for many people when I say that.

Those where just the roomers and it makes sense the r34 model is out and there have been 2 other models b 4 it the r33 & the r32. So what most people have been talking about is the new skyline model of nissans choice will be named the r35.
That would be the logical name for it would't it.

I believe the "R35" you show in your top post is a concept car that was NEVER production.
The black car is a very old photoshopped speculative image of what the 'R35' could look like. It started out as an R34.
As far as R35 vs. V35, I was under the impression that the R was for RB motors (i6's) and the V was for the V (V6 and V8??) series engines.
No. The chassis designation is unrelated to the powerplant. The R-series Skylines began with the R30 in 1981, which used the L20ET I6. The RB motors didn't come along until 1986, in the R31.
The same is true with the Fairlady Z. The 300ZX used the Z31 and Z32 designations, and were powered by VG30 engines. The new 350Z uses a VQ35, yet it is still called the Z33.
The S13 Silvias used the CA18 at first, but the designation remained unchanged when the SR20 was introduced.
The Sentras have used the 'B' designation for a long time, up to the current B15. They have used a variety of different engines, like the CA, GA, SR, QG, and QR.
What makes you say R35?
do you think that nissan will call the GTR an R35 just for fucks sake? again... what makes you think that... I just have NO idea where you are coming from with this R35 stuff and think I speak for many people when I say that.
Nissan will probably keep the 'R' designation for the sake of tradition, and possibly marketing as well. The designation has been used for nearly 25 years, and it would be foolish to throw away such a heritage. Hiroshi Tamura, the product planner for the next GT-R, was also in charge of the R34, so he will probably do all he can to stay true to the GT-R heritage while still improving the breed.
My personal reason for believing that the GT-R will be called the 'R35' is that the Skyline and GT-R names were supposed to be separated. If this is the case, Nissan had a problem. Two different models, and only one designation, right? That meant they needed to create a new one. That is probably where the 'V' came from. The 'R' is likely being kept in reserve for the GT-R.

Very good info vquick. I was just thinking that the R3x was related in some way to the engines being inline 6's. although I know this does not fit for the R32 skyline GXi. Either way I guess there are no rules and nissan can call the cars whatever the fuck they want for no reason at all.
But the V35 series skylines (which I see like 5 of everyday here in okinawa) are "V35" skylines correct???
Do you have any factual information saying that nissan will make the GTR an "R35".
I know on there japanese site they are making the GT-R more of a separate category now. on the old site it was in the Skyline section as the cream of the crop, now it's it's own thing.
Basicly, this is the first I've heard on anyone ever calling the new skyline an R35 and I would like to know where the idea came from.

the x35...which would be either the v or g35s? its the v35 chassis for now....they will probably use a different v series because with the GT-R model i heard that they were either going to go for a 3.2-4 liter v6 or even a v8 for the engine, and not going back to the traditional (and most popular) rb26dett.

But sadly, is unable to hold onto it.
Nissan will use what ever letter and number combination they find best fits thier design, production and distribution set up.
If it is in fact a totaly unique car, only losely based on the new RWD platform then it will most likely have its own letter and number combination, however if it shares enough of the 350z, or V35 Skyline/g35 chassis then I should imagine it would have a letter and number combination derieved from which ever it is closest to.

Yes. The sedans are V35s, while the coupes are CPV35s.
Do you have any factual information saying that nissan will make the GTR an "R35".
No. However, there is no information saying that this car would be called the V35, either. :grinno:

That's why people say that the "GT-R" and "Skyline" names will be separated. The GT-R concept probably started it all, since there was no "Skyline" in the name.
Nissan will use what ever letter and number combination they find best fits thier design, production and distribution set up.
Don't forget whatever fits their marketing purposes. Do you think they'd really throw away a 25 year heritage of the 'R' designation? The designation is available, so Nissan might as well use it than come up with a new one, which could alienate consumers. It makes a lot of sense for them to use the 'R,' but who knows what they'll really end up doing.

A 3.2L VQ V6 makes a bit of sense. The VQ35 had a bore increase of .2L and a stroke increase of .3L over the original VQ30, but was still oversquare(bore > stroke). This rumored VQ32 is probably like a destroked VQ35, for even quicker revving.
A V8 would be very nice. If Nissan used one, it would probably be a VK-series, available in 4.5 and 5.6 liters. Both versions are pretty undersquare(stroke > bore), and don't rev too well. Even the smaller VK45 makes it's power peak at only 6400rpm. The VK56, aka the Endurance, from the Titan full size pickup and Armada full size SUV, is even lower. For a GT-R spec VK, Nissan would probably need to destroke the motor a bit. An even 4L would be nice, and that would allow the engine to rev more and produce a bit more power. Some hotter cams would also work well, since VQ and VK cams are extremely mild(aftermarket VQ cams are rather mild, but still produce a 15+hp gain). I think 400hp NA would not be a problem for a sporty, high-revving VK40, since the VK45 already produces 340hp. With boost, who knows.

So the bottom line I guess to close this thread is that the differences between the "R35" and the V35 are non existant because the "R35" does not exist. Not to say that it will never exist.
We went into engine types and chasis codes but one thing still holds true: as of right now there is NO SUCH THING AS AN R35 Correct? This should answer the question of R35 vs V35.

So you go do wht ever u want to do cuz I dont care..
But the last post I made was a recomendation to close the thread. I just don't understand why you feel the need to say the same thing that I did 3 weeks ago. The thread has been left alone since then (as it should have been). I just don't understand why you stired it up again?
BTW, what's it like to be 16 years old and own a skyline, a benz, a ford windstar and a volvo?
Can I ask you something... what do you like better, the windstar or the skyline?

Well I'm not one for digging old threads up other than for reference. Posting in them isn't very good as they've gone to the wayside for a reason. That being lack of interest or talked out.
This whole R35, V35, GTR this and GTR that is ALL speculation until it is officially released.
Lets let sleeping dogs lay on this one for the time being.
