raped a 20th

i was so psyked to see that my last run of the day i was lined up against a sweet looking blue 20th a/e gti. i had never raced a gti up to this point and i heard they would tear me a new one and this and that. so i was ready for a good race. tree lights up and i go, i launch perfectly, a little shitty of an r/t but perfect shifts none the less, i take a look in my rearview and he is seriously back like 5 lengths... so i think to myself whats going on, this guy should be right on the side of me.. the race ends and i ran my best of a [email protected] and he ran a [email protected].
something seemed a little weird, so i stop to talk to him, guy forgot to turn off traction control, WTF! my race against the gti was foiled, oh well i still trapped way higher than his ass... next time i hope i get to race a gti with the traction control turned off.

You raped it?
Ewww!
Whad'id you do, stick it in the tailpipe?
*Watch out, it's hot!*
*Sizzle*
Integra GSR's are far lighter than a 20th Ani. GTi. If it was stock, you'd most likely beat the thing even with the TC off.

GTI 1.8t will run 0-60 6.4s and 1/4 mile is 15s thats stock, no way you would be next to him if he knew how to drive his car. The engine is also very tuneable, with just a chip mos people make 220hp and 240 torque @ the wheels, after being chipped gti 1/4 is about mid 14s, adding 3" downpipe and 3" exhaust, cai and your looking at mid 13s, some even managed low 13s with better summer tires.

first of all, he was stock, secondly, i never trapped below 90 that day even when i bogged all the way through first gear, this dude only trapped 86, and lastly have you ever even been to a track, i dont think anyone was running a stock gti to a 15.0 that day, the evo's couldnt break out of the 14's, and there were plenty there, id imagine if a gti had ran a 15.0 their r/t would have to be like .5 and they would have to have a perfect launch, and perfect shifts in between, its not all what it looks like in the magazines, trust me
ps, what chip adds roughly 73 horsepower to the 180 hp the 1.8t already has?

revo and apr chip will add roughly 70hp at fly wheel, because of more psi, my stock engine runs 9-11psi, after chip 15-16psi and spikes up to 17-18psi. Here is a website with proof filte http://www.dynoperformance.com/search_details.php?ID=535

Check this website most people run in low 14s and high 13 with stock turbo, just a chip,cai,downpipe,cat-back. http://www.vwfixx.com/quarter/ some managed low 13 on stock turbo http://www.vwfixx.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18636

1.8t engine is detuned from the factory, because vr6 us suppose to be top dog, chip should come stock with 1.8t, they would all be 220hp/250torque, because its safe, running 14.5-18psi, 1.8t can handle up to 30psi after that 1.8t is not making any more power, stock internals can handle up to 300whp well since thats not the case, we have to void our warranty and chip them.

my stock gti ran 1/4 mile 15.180 @ 90.108 mph, that was long time ago, i now have 2.5" custom exhaust, aem cai, forge 007, after i chip it and get downpipe i will go to the track again, i should be looking at low 14s or high 13s, the reason some people run in high 15 and 16 on gti 1.8t, they shift at red line which does no good to our cars, because 1.8t doesnt make much power after 6k rpm, red line is 7k rpm, now i shift to 2nd gear @6k and 3rd @5500-5800 never above 6k. I know this from experience as well, i ran high 15s and sometimes low 16s when i shifted at redline, that was when i just got my car, didnt know it loses power after 6k rpm, I can actually feel there is no pull after 5-6k rpm, so i shifted at 6k rpm because after u shift u should still be in ur power band, for 1.8t powerband is 3.5k-5.5k the higher the more hp but torque goes down. Thats how i got into low 15s 1/4 mile, now to get flat 15 on stock gti 1.8t is possible, but only for pro drivers.

The GSR won because the guy in the GTi can't drive. Areku's slip time sounds right.

thats crazy, a chipped gti runs alot of boost, and sweet timeslip man, you can definetly expect alot lower when you get your chip, i hope to finish up my exhaust with a header, and test pipe, then ill hit the track again, and with a lower r/t ill def be in the 14's, high 14's but hey im not turbo like you guys :icon16:
ps. i think he knew how to drive, he just forgot to turn his TC off, he followed me after the race begging for a rematch, but it was getting late and i had beat on my engine enough that day, he probably got caned by his vw buddies when they heard of how a gsr beat him because he didnt turn off TC i wouldve loved to have been there to see that!

dude, what does that valve do in the vid?
Areku_x

its the exhaust pipe, the valve opens before cat and muffler, basically u have a pipe sticking out of engine without cat and muffler when that valve opens up.

Zack, you still stuck on this GSR vs GTI thing? Why do I suspect that you are starting to like GTIs? :) Its alright, I'm thinking about trading my GTI 1.8t for a RSX Type S... Only cause my friend is a manager at Acura and my GTI has 83k miles now...

Hahahhahah.... Noob... I've heard of GTIs blowing their engines in the 20+PSI.... It happens if you push your car too much, but its been done over and over again with success...

Gti 1.8t can handle up to 30psi, those cars boost happy. With stock internals the engine can handle up to 300whp. Some managed to get 450bhp on stock internals with roughly 22psi.

i must have misuderstood him tho my bad i thoguht he meant turbo not the engine as a whole because a stock engine that had that much psi for the turbo would blow

The fastest time was a 15.8 from another stock gti that day. That day was the first time I had brought my GTI AE to the track. I just wanted to see what it could do. My problem was with the launches. my fastest RT was .7 and my slowest was .9 that day and i couldnt decided if i was doing better with the traction on or off. and since i only got in 3 runs that day i really didnt have time to fine tune anything as far as launch technique was concerned. I can drive my gti very well. I just need more to get it up there more often.

Traction control will always slow you down, unless you've got like 500hp and you can't help but light up the tyres.

lauch at 2,500-3,000 rpm, shift to 2nd gear @6,000rpm, and 3d @5500rpm, since our cars dont make much power above 6k, shift before or at 6k never go over.

It's all about low-end torque in GTi's.
Know your powerband and torquebands to know when to shift, whether you can just feel it driving the car or get a proper dyno readout to study.

Do you have any idea what that car runs in street clothes?
Is it strickly a track drag car, or a daily driver?
