Would it be possable to put a SR20DET in a AE86? I dont have a 86 but I have been seeing them around and was thinking of getting one. However the stock engine is too weak for me, so I thought hey the SR is light small and set for RWD so why not drop one of those in :evillol: So will it work?

SR + AE86 + 240SX forum = Wrong forum. :icon16:

Like J Spec said, it's been done before. Cheack around at the Corolla forum or Club 4AG.

get your sr20det and put it in an older 3 series bmw instead of that shity ae86. check our FAQ for the sight that puts the supra 2jz in a 240sx, they also do the 3 series sr20det conversion. you'd be surprised how affordable those older bimmers are and once all those bmw parts are placed by good 'ole nissan parts it'll be even more affordable.

Its funny you should bring up the 3 series. I love them and thats my first choice. However I dont think I would put a SR in the E30. Its already got a nice cast iron 2.5 liter that has no problem with boost. Any ways though the SR AE86 is just a idea I had and I wanted to know if it would work. Also you dont see many AE86s around.

It's been done. Doesn't look too terrible of a job to do either.

not shitty as in "that car is shitty", i like ae86's. i almost bought an ae86 if not for the fact that it ended up being an sr5 with gt-s body work. i mean shitty like the condition of that ae86 will most likely be shitty. everyone i see around here is a rusted POS.

I dont want a AE86 because I read a mag. FYI I saw it in initial D :icon16: But really Im looking for a great handler thats cheap and with some power. The AE86 meets that except for the motor but that could be changed.

sorry, i wasnt referring to you. the prices on hachis are rising due to freaking media attention and how everybody wants it.

since he's talkin about puttin an sr20det in it, i wonder how hard it would be to do that to an sr5 rather than the more expensive and sought after gt-s model. it you could get that sr20 in the sr5 corrola you'd save so much initially on the car and it would be easier to find a hatch rather than the oupe version (which i think is kinda goofy looking).

Yea getting a SR5 would make more sense. And the CA swap is also another good idea. Is the CA easyer to get a hold of?
