Cigarette Lighter

The connection to my cigarette lighter is all out of wack. I wouldnt really care, but I have a radar detector, so this is why I have a problem. I dont feel like taking the dash apart, and Ive already bought another cigarette lighter. What can I hook up the new cigarette lighter to with out giving a large hassle, I just want my damn radar detector to work :(

What year is your cavi? The older ones (up till 94-5, like mine) just use one screw by the lighter and ash tray and the center dash comes out. I don't know how the newer models come apart.

Other than that the lighters just unplug and screw out. they're about $4 at autozone/pepboys

Try chcking your fuses. I got my cavi brand spanking new but for some reason the fuse was blown for just the lighter. :sly:

just splice the wire into the fuse box. cut off the cigarette adapter and put on a blade connector to put into an open spot in your fuse box and ground the other to a screw in the fuse panel

I have an 03 Cav, and I had the same problem. I don't know if the 2000's are the same, but i used my aux. lighter (near the passanger's feet) and just reached behind and hard wired it. It was very simple and took about 20 minutes... I had to use a switch, because the power isn't cut to the lighters when the engine and accesories are off. I don't know if your car is similar, but i hope this can help a little...
