Upgrading a 5sfe!?!

Hey PPL~
I have a 90 Celica hatchback GT with a 5sfe....
I am in procces of installing a Q1 bodykit, eclipse-style spoiler, rims, seats, swapping the ugly red carpet w/ blue and doing anything to get rid of the red elsewher.
My question is, what all can i do to make my engine, 2.2 5sfe, faster. The response could be better, it kinda delays when i quickly hit the gas and let off. I could go with Nitrous or forced induction but i want a solid engine to build around but dunno where to start.
Cams and such are hard to find... What can i do to make my engine a solid potential racer and daily driver all at the same time?
And yes, i do have Short Ram Intake and custom exhaust.

get some custom headers and cams, and stuff

You need engine upgrades. get the standard header, intake and exhaust. Get some cams and gears, some new pistons, if you have the cash put a turbo or supercharger in it, depending on what you like better.

theres alot of just small hp increase upgrades

but ya if you wanna do something big, and have the money start puttin in what mogg said, then if you want some more hp add the little bits

Parts are almost impossible to find for 5th gen celicas and is putting my high hopes of a fast 5th gen celica down and sinking like a rock.

Hey, thanks for the site... But are they worth 500?? Are the headers on ebay worth it. I see them occasionally, but i never thought they would give significant HP gains.

ull get at most 20 but thats with awsome exaust and hi flow cats, basically with intake, cat back exhaust and headers ur lookin at around 35 Hp, at most 50

oh n btw never get mor than 3" pipes on ur 5sfe, most likel;y u should get 2'5 inch pipes, if u get too big ull lose alot of backpressure and actually end up losing Hp instead of gaining it
