I have a frien that wants to buy an mr2 for autox/drifting.
I dont believe this would be a good car for this type of thing without spending some big$
To me it seems it would be hard to drift with all the weight over the drive wheels giving it too much traction for the low HP/torque these cars have.
Any one have opinions on this?

n/a and supercharged mr2's do very well in autoX
in fact, second gen n/a's are the dominant car in Estock. not sure about how well it would do drifting though, i know it can be done.
but then again, autoX > drifting
since drifting is just something that stemmed from "vintage" european car racing.

The MR2s can drift just fine. Proper drifitng is about breaking traction on the front wheels, but seeing as you are an InitialD fan you know this already :)
I have some excellent videos of MR2s drifting.

The 2 could work as a drift car, but I wouldnt use it for one because.
Drift cars are usually cheaper, FR, and can get damaged, and MR2 parts are EXPENSIVE.

MR2's are not that expensive. I just got a 91 manual turbo for only 2500. The parts for it are expesive though. I took my car to toyota to fix an a/c problem and i had to pay like 600 just for them to fix like a leaking rubber tube. More traditional cars are like the camry and silvia's cause there cheap and so are their parts.

Where can I find a copy of the "Drift Bible"? I've got plans for my MR2 that include drifting and I don't want to do it without any knowledge of the car.
