how difficult is it to swap a t-56 6-speed trans into a 89 camaro? would a trans shop be someone to trust in this or would there be a better place to go? or would it be easier to do it myself?

I'd save the time and tons of money you'd spend having some one do it, and do it yourself. It can be done, but you'll need every thing from your donor car. Tranny, shifter, driveshaft, torque arm, tranny mount, ummm I think that's it. If you can get the rear housing that'd be a plus too. But you deffanatly need the other things.

well you're going to need the pedals, slave cylinder, and shifter and all that good stuff. i would recommend finding a donor car and taking everything that you need out of it...
